My thinking has been that the soda's alkaline properties further the whitening effects though its mechanical abrassiveness + wonky brushing techniques may counteract the benefits of using it to some extent... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25663058 cool, been thinking about starting using Baking soda as a substitute to toothpaste... :killerglp2: |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27999563 I am starting this protocal and will see if it works. I can assure you that you will be very, very disappointed. Why do you say this? Do you have proof that this does not work? |

anon User ID: 1575004 United States 02/04/2013 04:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dr. Ellie, DDS has some really interesting information: One can do a google search to listen to her interviews. [link to www.drellie.com] Bacteria cause dental disease. These organisms thrive in a dry, acidic mouth and cause bad breath, plaque build-up, gingivitis, and weakened teeth. Acids from bacteria erode tooth enamel which leads to sensitivity, cavities and discoloration. Mouth acidity is measured in the pH of saliva. A pH above 7.0 is a safe, alkaline state. A pH below 7.0, it is acidic. The root surfaces of teeth can be damaged when acidity drops below 6.5 and tooth enamel erodes if levels fall to pH 5.5. The longer teeth remain in acidic saliva, the greater the damage from demineralization. Yet, when saliva levels are alkaline, teeth can strengthen and repair through a natural process of tooth remineralization. The longer the mouth pH remains alkaline, the greater opportunity for teeth to repair themselves. Mouth pH can fluctuate for a number of reasons related to diet, body chemistry and hormones, climate, or mouth dryness. Anything that causes a drop in the mouth pH to make it acidic or to cause mouth dryness is a risk factor for dental disease. The greater your risk for dental disease, the more protection you will need to keep your teeth safe from damage. |

Well, I would like to have new teeth though (after 40), they are grinded down after four decades, damn it! lol |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33681765 Australia 02/04/2013 05:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have two jars of B.C in the bathroom, one near the shower for washing my hair and body, the other near the sink for brushing my teefs. When I brush my teefs all I do is wet the toofbrush and stick it straight into the BC, then I put it straight in my mouth and brush as normal. I seem to get a plaque buildup very quickly and BC gets rid of it , while any form of toofpaste does not. I have nearly lost a front toof because of inadequate toofpaste Its BC for me, whenever I get the urge to brush...when I was using toofpaste I would brush up to 5 times a day...with BC, I seem to only want to brush twice and sometimes three times a day. |
