For anyone traveling full time around the U.S. it is getting harder and harder to find places to park overnight for free. | |

First of all, why do we have to hide from our own cops! Secondly, I live a converted box van that is just like a moving truck on the outside. Door with curtain from cab to cargo bay. It looks like any U-haul or Penske rental truck. They watch for any vehicle parked over night and track it. I made the mistake of staying in the area for 3 nights. Usually I move every day or so. But, you are missing the whole point. Why do I have to hide from my own law enforcement people? I haven't broken any laws. This attitude is just crazy... |

Yeah OP, you are spot on. Most people do not realize this is occuring because they do not travel the roads long distances very often. And if they do encounter being run off they blow it off and don't make the realization that there is an agenda going on here. The agenda as I see it is that you have to pay to stop anywhere so that you can be tracked. They want it to be damn near impossible to go under the radar. If you travel in this country there will be a record of every place you stopped and everything you did. Not to mention "security" cameras everywhere recording your every move. These things have been occuring quite slowly and nobody has made the connection with the police state they have created. This is not the land of the free any more. Hasn't been for a long time really. Actually the argument can be made that we have never truly been free. It's just that it's becoming far more obvious to many people nowadays that we are not. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23766809 Yes. Go into any state or national park now and your license plates are scanned. If I stop to buy a beer at a grocery store, they now want your drivers license and swip it. They know who I am, where I stop, what I buy and how often. Now the cops drive through parking lots with a scanner, scanning license plates every night. It's much, much worse than the local sheep can imagine already... |

We are now being born into slavery and can not even sleep without paying some scumbag to do so. This is wrong on all levels. This is a control thing. I was born Free and will endeavor to die so. I hope people wherever they may be begin to speak up and take back our public lands before the Chinese or whoever take control. Unbefuckingleavable. Would someone please pin this? Good thread. I drive by a local military installation and you can drive for miles with fence and posted signs. They call it "Wildlife Management Area", hiking, but no camping allowed. Ask yourself. Why does the military need all of this land? Who gave it to them? And who made them guardians of it? Why do they get to decide it's uses? Fucking civil servants spend their career sitting at desks behind these fences controlling YOUR land! Damn, just thinking about this pisses me off. |

I whole heartedly agree!! America is being taken from us one step at a time. Where our forefathers are rolling over in their graves and wondering what has happened to this once proud and wonderful nation!! But I know!! I know that Satans new world order elites have taken over America and you will be their new foe and unwanted and unwashed masses!! I hope you have God and Jesus Christ on your side and not Satan and his evil and wicked new world order antichrist; ruling and controlling you and taking your guns!! There was a time a few years ago when I was young when state parks were free to get in and only charged a few dollars to camp. Now state and national parks charge an entrance fee, then a camping few plus tax. Usually ends up being over $25 a night. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14802299 Almost all public lands east of the Mississippi are fenced and charge a camping fee. Yes, you can park "anywhere", but many areas are now posted with "no camping allowed in this area". Even Walmart is shutting down overnight parking in many areas. Don't even think about just pulling off the side of the road to sleep over night. You will get a knock on the window from some cop. Most shopping centers now have "no overnight parking" signs everywhere. Hey, I'm not a bum or trying to live off the public, but there is public land EVERYWHERE in America and it's all being closed off. Everywhere the land is either private and posted, or public and posted, owned by the some government agency (military, state, feds, nasa, etc.). The time will come when people are all wandering America and are told to "move along". Wait and see... They have been doing this in California since the 90s, if not before. |

I'm over 60 so I get half off in all of our state parks. Except weekends, only 10% off. I thought about getting a van but those will be to noticable to cops. SUV is better. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28870983 Come on, why work around their control? You shouldn't need "half off"! It's our public lands! Also, why do we need to hide from the cops? This is the wrong attitude... I don't know of any free state parks where u have shower facilities, WIFI, fishing and over night camping. OK, try parking a van overnight somewhere. Bet you get hassled by the cops. Actually I haven't done it yet. Just looking ahead to a worst case scenario. Where you gonna live when they take your home under Agenda 21? |

Get a flat tire and stash it in the back, park on the side of a highway, change a good tire with the flat tire and just go to sleep. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33605837 Make sure you tint your windows or at least get window covers and you should be good. Also its legal for Semi-drivers to kick it in rest areas and I've seen them park on off ramps to sleep, so why couldn't you? Please try to understand. There are MANY ways to scam the system. I have used many of them. What I am trying to warn you about is that all freedom is ending faster than you even care to consider... Ahh , so you are a scammer and a hobo. |

This statement is so un-called for. A lot of retirees who paid their dues like the RV lifestyle where they can just pick up and be on the road. This is something we're looking forward to as we wanted to visit all of this nation's national parks. However, the camper van class B RVs are much more viable for parking and raise less attention then the bigger vehicles. The truth is incontrovertible.
