Breaking-NASA WARNS: Possible Seismic Activity on Asteroid 2012 DA14 -WTF!!!-over 950 injured- meteor shower in Russia-comet breaking apart?

Feb. 14, 2013: For eons, Earth has felt the tremors of asteroids striking our planet. From the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago to the felled forests around Tunguska in 1908, the space rocks keep coming.
This week, Earth strikes back. When asteroid 2014 DA14 makes a record close approach to our planet on Feb. 15th, the space rock could be the one feeling tremors.
New research by Richard Binzel, a professor of planetary science at MIT, suggests that many near-Earth asteroids experience a seismic jolt when they pass too close to our planet’s gravitational field.
"We are going to be looking closely for evidence of seismic activity on 2014 DA14 as it passes by," says Binzel. "This is the first case of an object coming close enough to experience quakes AND where we have enough notice to plan observations."

Unless NASA has landed a probe on that rock flying by, they will get little -if any- meaningful data regarding "seismic" activity on it during its flyby. Which makes me also wonder why NASA would bother putting out this report. No trusting NASA.

Because it will enter a weak gravitational field rather suddenly. Its release from the gravitational affect could also cause the rock to judder.

This is not worthy of reporting in the sense that it does nothing but illicit emotional states of fear and panic. This is not the first rock and not the last rock to hit the earth (if it does). Who cares about all of this if you can do nothing about it? Why not let the sheeple go their merry way, you go back to the Home Shopping Network and when it happens; well, your maker will do what is needed to either secure you or usher you into the next realm.

What do you mean 'rather suddenly'? earths gravity doesn't just start and stop once you travel a certain distance.

Do we have (somewhere) a projected trajectory of which parts of the earth it is over at it's closest approach times? Does it come up from the south pole, or cross from east to west or west to east? Just what is supposed to be it's path during the crossing??

I have not seen this info online, but that doesn't mean it's not there and I've perhaps missed it. Anyone else found that info, yet?

BTW: if NASA is saying it could undergo seismic activity due to our gravity field, then they're also giving themselves a "way out" if the thing hits the earth. They will blame it on a shift in course due to a small quake caused by our gravity effecting the rock above us.

Just pray that if (heaven forbid) it should hit the earth, that it avoids nuclear plants and close proximity to the shores of any country. If it were to hit mid-pacific ocean and generate a huge tsunami, we'd at least have some time to warn the affected countries and evacuate their beach areas before the waves got there.

Given some of NASA's comments today, it would seem as if they're trying to give themselves a plausible "way out" if it should hit. Oh, and the Russians are still predicting an impact as of 7 AM this morn according to PRAVDA and the BBC.

Hang on, I thought earth tremors were caused by the plates shifting??

In this pic the asteriod is spot on. The backround is moving but the asteriod is on a direct path to earth + 50.000 miles. Astronomers must have some very good instrumentation to estimate so precisely.

the moving of the asteroid (steady Dot)the stars look like moving (lines)

I watched the video at the spaceweather link above,the Italian virtual telescope project clearly shows "other" stuff flying along with DA14,as it is a simulation or model the other fragments would have to be added deliberately i think, and then they say nothing about them!
