Statistics show that in cases of mass shootings the number of injured is less if stopped by armed citizens on scene as opposed to law enforcement after the fact.

I can't speak for others, but every time that I've found myself in a threatening or dangerous situation, there has always been a nearby crowd of well-meaning bystanders who are ready to rush to my defense with their pens. YMMV
