Instant communication and modern technology nowadays mean that if anything truly remarkable exists out there, and can be detected by a novice, it's ridiculous to think it not only wouldn't already be known to experts far and wide, but it wouldn't have already gotten spread through word of mouth---through the grapevine. So it's super stupid to believe some amazing secret discovery will be somehow first announced here.

Read up. The HI1 imager is known to suffer from lens flares from bright sources just out of the image.

As someone who has had to work with NASA data I can tell you that lens flare and internal reflections are everywhere. All you need to do is look up the term avoidance zone.

If lens flare did not occur then it would not be necessary to leave such a wide margin around bright objects.

BTW most people are misusing the term lens flare. Lens flare occurs when an object, say the Moon, is not in the field of view of the telescope. It is stray light scattered into the optical path. Internal reflections occur when a bright object is in the field of view and you get secondary reflections off of the various optical components.
