Exactly, that makes us way smarter than most people. They may be "geniusses" in their fields, but they are still not smart if they have no understanding for the important aspects of life and the big picture

^90--Not bragging; I just don't focus on trivial BS. I am diligantly trying to relearn all the things I was never taught. Trying to erase all the bs promulgated from an early age is tedious.

intelligence is well over rated you need the wisdom to use such or you may as well be as thick as sh*t

I dismiss most people as being as smart as my dog. Not because I'm a pompous asshole, but because REALLY, my dog is just as smart.

Most people don't read. That is the number 1 telltale sign of intelligence. And no ladies, romance novels (female porn) does not count. It's gotta be nonfiction.

Being awake and aware and open minded plays a crucial role also. Two of my friends are doctors, one a surgeon and one a GP. I regard both of them as idiots for the most part because they are clueless about the outside world. Almost anyone can learn crap from a university, but not everyone is blessed with full spectrum awareness and understanding.

I know a few people smarter than myself though and I gladly bow down and pay my respects to them. But like I said, my dog is smarter than 90% of the rest.

I average 67 on my yearly IQ test.

Well, upon seeing your thread title, I figured I was not going to be so presumptuous as to rank myself 'according' to my own perceptions of myself'; then I read the body of your comment:

"Think about 100 people in your life.
Parents, friends, co-workers, extended family, teachers, stc.
Rank yourself"

It has to be 90%. I do not know ONE person who makes any effort to find out the why's and how's of the world and systems they 'live' in.

Everyone I know seems to 'just be' content with going about their own business.

A surprising number of them NEVER read newspapers, or even watch news broadcasts, of any kind.

"What do you mean 'stop eating seafood?' Fukushima? What's that? Corexit? What?"

"GMO's?"

"You better stop going to that website. Everyone KNOWS that flouride is essential to good dental health! Oh, man!"

"Where do you get this stuff? The BIBLE specifically states that..."

"Sigh Op? Wha?"

These are just milder examples.

Those that DO have some interest in "being well informed" tend to start bitching and moaning when the news outlets they watch tell them it's time to bitch and moan. It is akin to a 'pavlov's dog' response.

They listen = they believe.

They would NEVER consider trying to research the possibility that what they are hearing could be some degree of propaganda, or, guided acceptance.

This goes for ANY and ALL news outlets. There's no thought to 'read between the lines.' No effort to dig deeper.

People confuse being smart with having a good memory.

A good memory means you can regurgitate facts, figures, information, stories or theories that other people tell you, without questioning any of it.

A smart person may hear what people are saying, but look to clarify and make up their own minds, without following the opinions and words of others.

Don't get me wrong, there can be a crossover between the two, but more often than not there isn't.

How egotistical is this thread? You guys are seriously grading your intelligence against another individuals? You think your smarter because you have taken time out of your day to sit around and research? I'll applaud such effort, but when you guys put yourself up on a pedestal for merely realizing deception present on earth, your using the 'I'. With this I present, your nothing but still left in the dark. Cute is it that we think we're better, think we know more, and feel our research has us safely secured and above the 'norm' of society. Only here is the truth that we have been asleep, and someone poked us in attempt to wake us up. We tossed and turned, and the one doing the poking thought we would wake, yet Still we dream.

A better question is what constitutes being smart. I assume it's a different criteria for everyone.

i have met people i would consider more intelligent than me that do the dumbest things. i think a persons intelligence is like a personal tool. if you don't know how to use it it won't help you. also there are different types of intelligence. some people are just better at certain things.

I replied blank to see how much smarter people in here were than myself.

I don't consider my self smart or intelligent I just ask a whole lot of questions, far more than most.
