Quoting: wisc_natureboy Parents, friends, co-workers, extended family, teachers, stc. Rank yourself. I used to think I was, overall, in the 90%tile. I have, however. This used to be a pretty depressing subject for me because I felt as if I were being arrogant knowing that I was smarter, better and faster than 9 out of 10 people. I never showed it outwardly and actually tried to dumb myself down to fit in better. I'd tell myself I was being arrogant and that I really wasn't that smart. Well, now that I'm in my early 50s, it just doesn't work anymore. Not only that, I've realized I've been too hard on myself. You need a 99% box for me. These people that are around me are just stoopid. I took 4 IQ tests online a few months ago and I averaged 147 on the 4 different tests I took. I've taken more since and never score below 140. No, I'm not one of these geeky types that have inch thick glasses and never exits his mom's basement. I've been an IT guy for 30 years. People seem to get dumber every day as I get smarter. I don't get it. |

They may be "geniusses" in their fields, but they are still not smart if they have no understanding for the important aspects of life and the big picture Very true! Anonymous Coward User ID: 28057136 Netherlands 03/20/2013 10:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are days I consider myself 99% smarter than the other 100 and there also days I say to myself: "you are SO stupid, you know NOTHING!" Who are these 100 persons in my circle? Do I really know them? Do I know what they are thinking about before they go to sleep? Most people don't have the time to be smart. They are too busy living their lives, thinking they are smart for having everything under control. Smart and smart is 2... |

I actually gave up as I really felt I have such an old soul that they had nothing to teach me. It became increasingly clear to me that somehow I knew everything. It was around this time that I started to experiment with telepathy, transmorphphingisationising and of course pericombobulobstalism, all of which I was able to master in record time. Now I spend my days sitting in the lotus position, whilst I present the matrix with three physical manifestations of myself. One works as an insurance broker to earn the money, the second is a survival expert who maintains my log cabin here in the deep forest and takes care of food and warmth etc. and the third is the father and husband my beautiful wife deserves. As for intelligence, well, who knows? |

Vacationing here is not cheap so, the majority of tourists either own their own businesses or have some sort of (important) job that pays well and yet, here are some of the questions they ask us all the time - "When do they turn the waterfalls on?" "Is there water all the way around the island?" And, the question to food servers, "Do you live here?" “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. Damrod User ID: 6266696 United States 03/20/2013 10:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People have become specialists in specific areas...and sadly...general intelligence has suffered. Not many people are "Renaissance thinkers" anymore. It takes a special mind to be able to recall history, science, advanced mathematics, etc. I know engineers that are brilliant in "THAT" specific discipline and are dumb as a bag of hammers in say history or archaeology. I strive to be a "Renaissance man". I try to be creative, artful, critical and spiritual. I try to solve problems I face both inside and outside the box. I had my IQ tested many years ago and I have learned a ton since then...but overall, I would prob rate about the same. I am NOT a super genius...just a dude trying to make it through this life as best I can. |
