i mean he wouldnt have to contribute financially if he was a good dude helping out in other ways. he just sounds like a straight up loser, with self pitty and agression and obviously a drinking problem and loads of built up anger.

has to do with lack of selfrespect (wich they lose piece by piece, just like teaching a puppy not to poo in the hallway or to do tricks when tolt so. the dogs learn the guidelines and the punishments/treets they get for listening to their boss. difference is humans should be able to realise that they are both humans and have a right to be happy without a boss/owner)

plus after that they usually go into the opposite direction where they dont want to let anyone near anymore out of fear this would happen again or they would get hurt if the person would find them weak, i guess. i mean you just dont want to even have a chance to get hurt anymore. wich is the other extreme.

Here's an idea for you, seriously. It's next to fucking impossible to find a self respecting job these days when one is a middle aged man. Trust me when I say he doesn't like his circumstance either!
What you shouldn't do is denigrate him because of this if he is trying to find a job. You should reward him for trying and give him his time to blow off his frustrations.
Buy him beer and inform him that you want him to drink and unwind to forget his professional frustrations for awhile, but he needs to pound the resumes out the next day.
Be a partner and not a master to him. Men are their own masters and don't need a woman playing that role. The more you turn the thumbscrews, the worse the situation will get.
Understand that, be supportive, know he isn't happy with the situation and demand that he lays the wood to you for you to concede his masculinity to him.
