My great grandfather bought some land, dug a hole and covered it with a canvas tarp to live in for a year while he built a 2 room log cabin from trees on the property for the family. I won't go on but yes, we down here will take care of ourselves and our neighbors. I heard today that there aren't many in the shelters because we take in our own, and sometimes even strangers. Were gonna need outside help, for sure, but we won't need as much as some others. Hq okc |

Yeah let's compare tragedies to make one tragedy-stricken city seem less deserving of help and sympathy by comparison. A forced comparison at that. The only similarities are that people died in a "natural" disaster. Kindly eat a bag of flouridated GMO dicks. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40234266 Yeah, I have spent too much time in New Orleans to buy that. New Orleans is a dirty crime ridden place. They did not show community strength of a city coming together when Katrina hit. New Orleans should aspire to be something more than a drunken wasteland. |

I love Oklahoma, they are great Americans, the exact opposite of DC which is full of cowards, snakes, usurping the Constitution for personal gain. The revolution will start in okc The Right Policy is Always Conservative "The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President." - Vaclav Klaus |

I was here for Katrina. Moore, Ok, has a pop of 1/5 of what we had pre-storm, and 1/75 the size of NO. At 3 pm that monday afternoon, I started cutting trees, as did many of my neighbors, til midnight. Your information is skewed. I personally didnt have power for 7 weeks. Try doing backbreaking labor in september in south La. I'll give you three days. Not all your words are wrong, just that the brief description of a couple of my events were the norm. Many places were unreachable for weeks on end also. Most of those ares have never made it back. Last Edited by overwatch on 05/21/2013 10:13 PM |
RAKM User ID: 11685234 United States 05/21/2013 10:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, I get the comparison in part only. Yes, the actual city of New Orleans has lots of welfare, food stamp recipients who are gooberment lazy slaves. However, that is only in the poorest areas. Many working class in the city did not wait on the government and most all in suburbia New Orleans started rebuilding as soon as the government would actually let them back in. Many real folks in New Orleans and suburbs were not allowed to come back home for many weeks. We were locked out by the military and the government. Just think you are comparing apples and oranges. Also, if you were truly affected I find it hard to just say a prayer for you when you want to condemn another persons tragedy. I will however, pray for your community. Your post is offensive. Get out and get away means lives would have been saved (who gives a shit about property) and people could have been spared sitting on the roof, but there was a general sense of denial about the reality of that storm and those of us outside of NO marvel at the death toll when it was KNOWN it was coming for many hours if not days before it hit. I remember watching interviews with people in NO where people were very dismissive of the fact that they could get hit. |
