Why would the navy have an air base in the middle of the desert you ask? Well lets just say that some strange things went on around there. Quoting: GottaGodComplex Another fact to consider is Fresno, CA is one of the largest consumers of methamphetamine in that area, which automatically brings any reports from there into question because we all know tweakers see things after days of not sleeping. You are a idiot. Do the world a favor kill yourself I'm sorry, but, I must defend this line of thinking. Ignore the fool for writing such a response. |

It is an easier but not as aerodynamic way for humans to construct a flexible inflatable craft. A terrestrial saucer shaped lighter than air powered craft... But bucking 30-70mph side winds? Some kind of new anti-drag tech going on there. |

It's Venus or Jupiter, if you follow things that happen up in the sky for example, like these people called astronomers, you would have known that Venus and Jupiter this weekend will be bright as approaching aircraft during dawn and dusk hours (hence the 4 hours). In the News video, the weather pattern was explained and the 10 to 20 mph winds would have caused movement, even a "tethered balloon" moves in the wind. Also, if any organization was using a "tethered balloon" for ANY REASON, they would have to get permission from the FAA and notify local Air Traffic Control, and the News station would have access to that information as News and other helicopters are allowed to fly at low altitudes. This was not a "tethered balloon". If you make any claims you should do your research first. This could not have been a balloon. |

Lemoore is hardly in the middle of the desert, it IS in the middle of one of the biggest AG valley's on the planet. The base there helps protect the central coast of California, and has advanced weapons. What many don't know, is the small towns that surround the base, are filled with Arabs. These are good points to consider. What other things happening in the area? Maybe the thing is just a man made stationary type drone with the best available tech for spying and even a little punch to boot. Surveilance drone tech test would be my best guess for this object. Various tech has come from nawc lemoore's numerous squadrons and alot of it is AI or Drone based. That's all I can say on the matter. GottaGodComplex |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 12212850 United States 05/26/2013 06:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | this was 2006, i bet we are much better at it now! dhs ! again. see link for pic. [link to www.nationaldefensemagazine.org] Unmanned Surveillance Balloon To Hit the Skies August 2006 By Grace Jean UnmannedSurveillancePARIS — The next wave in unmanned aerial systems may hark back to the dawn of human flight more than a century ago. Aeronautics Defense Systems Ltd., based in Israel, which produces tactical UAVs with sophisticated navigation and control technologies, has developed an unmanned surveillance aircraft that looks like a balloon but flies like a kite. The Skystar 300 is a small aerostat that can carry day and night sensors up to 1,000 feet in the air. When filled with helium, the 25-foot wide balloon floats up and gives operators 360-degree observation coverage. It is tethered to a long cable, which is anchored to the ground. While the demand for lighter, faster and cheaper UAVs is increasing, there also is a need for unmanned aerial systems that work silently beneath the clouds, with long endurance and extended sensor range, says Yair Atzmon, head of the company’s ground division. In addition, such systems must be both inexpensive and easy to maintain and operate to keep up with the increasing appetite for visual information at the individual soldier level. Skystar 300 and its smaller cousin, Skystar 100, can fill that gap, he says. They offer troops at the squad level an opportunity to see “over the hill” without relying upon conventional drones that may be tasked by units conducting missions at higher echelons, he says. The battery-operated systems are designed to be rapidly deployable by two to three persons from a vehicle or on foot. Users can manipulate the system via a laptop or a tripod-mounted ground control station. To fly drones usually requires special training, but to fly the balloon systems requires maybe one or two lessons, says Atzmon. “Anybody can learn to use it,” he says. To manufacture the Skystar, the company, which is producing a traditional tactical UAV called Aerostar for the U.S. market, basically took one of its mini drones, cut off the wings and tied it to a balloon, to put it in very simplistic terms, says Atzmon. While Skystar’s flying mechanisms may seem primitive, its onboard capabilities feature next-generation technologies. Guided by global positioning satellites, the aerostats contain all the navigational assets of the mini UAVs, he says, including a black box recorder that comes standard on all the company’s unmanned aerial systems. Both balloons can host a wide range of payload, from digital processing day cameras to cooled and uncooled infrared thermal sensors. And though they may appear fragile, the balloons are sturdy, adds Atzmon. Skystar 300 is built to withstand high winds, up to 40 knots, he says. Stabilization technologies allow the systems to provide clear images of whatever they may be viewing. “Skystar 300 can detect a man sitting five kilometers away inside a vehicle,” says Atzmon. Not only can the systems assist in military security and stability operations in Iraq, but they also can function in homeland security roles, says Atzmon. (sorry now ufo! just the gov spying again.) |
