Valerian Root- Causes Disturbing Dreams - Why?
I've had valerian tabs before and started having side effects with the hops mixed in etc,so went back to valerian only tabs, but these have caused horrible dreams and actually really upsetting me! Why does valerian Root Tabs cause side effects like this when it is meant to be calming and help you sleep??

I've also had terrible nightmares that I havent been able to wake up from with valerian root and melatonin also. Absolutely awful. I have post traumatic stress disorder and when I took the pills they made my flashbacks SIGNIFICANTLY worse as well so I'm not sure if there's a connection there.

Very interesting. I have a bottle of valerian root capsules as well as some low-dose melatonin. I haven't tried either of them yet because incorporating a daily exercise routine has really been helping my sleep lately, but now I kind of want to try them, just to see what kind of dreams I have ;)

Re: Valerian Root- Causes Disturbing Dreams - Why?
Because you are obviously way low on seratonin. It's like if you get super dehydrated and it hurts to take a drink. when you finally get a little boost of the stuff you realize how unhealthy of a level of it you have.

You need a lot more of it. They sell it directly at GNC or you can just start taking melatonin, until your levels build back up and the scary dreams will turn back into those very nice dreams you remember when you produced enough of it to start.

Thanks for explaining that, it makes sense and really helpful...although I'm a little scared to try valerian again....but I'll take Melatonin as you said and see how I get on. I'm apparently very low in Vit D at the moment so that might be a factor too. Cheers.
