President Obama summoned top congressional leaders to the White House for a midafternoon meeting Monday that could prove critical to acclerating efforts to end the crisis that has paralyzed Washington and avoid an unprecedented default on the nation’s debt.

The White House said in a statement that Obama would tell congressional leaders at the 3 p.m. session that Republicans must “act to pay our bills and reopen the government.’’

Asked if he hoped to have a proposal to take to the White House at 3 p.m., Reid said, “Sure hope so.”

There is no way that we will default on paying our bills unless Obama simply refuses to pay, because we have the money coming in. The service on the debt every month is about $18 billion, and tax revenue changes every month, but on average it's $200 to $225 billion of tax revenue coming in. A lot. We've got more than enough money.

I guess you can believe what you wish in any direction. Not caught in either extremity and just observing, I noted congress last presented a yearly budget in 4-'09..that was Ob's 3rd month in office and there has not been one since that time which is 4 1/2 years which is of course worthy of noting.
Also, the gloves came off all public protections from corporate poisoning. FDA, CDC, NRC, to name a few. Like Bush, Obama turned his back on people struggling through the BP disaster and he left them to fend for themselves against BP which is pretty tough when you've lost your livelihood and also are dying.
I've noticed many state protections overrided by the feds under his watch. No rights of Habeus corpus or posse commitatus returned.
He approved use of drones and murder of american citizens, spying on all countries of the world and is responsible for the massacre of hundreds of thousands of dead and a 7 million displaced innocent residents of 10,000 year old cultures.

Since the day he got in office he has been the SERVANT OF CORPORATIONS. So don't tell me otherwise.
To me all of DC is populated with psychotic rogues who have ignored ever law of this land and abroad for the last 14 years and counting.

The first thing I noticed about him was the deadness of his eyes. Observation of his responses were clearly "off" and not substantial or direct. Never direct. Since there was not perceptible warmth in his manner I couldn't understand how people were so won over, and by his words with no content. This frightened me. Now they ALL frighten me.
