But according to a number of articles I have read it appears to be an okay place. The 10 Best States for Retirement A new ranking says Tennessee, Louisiana, and South Dakota are the best places to retire. [link to www.usnews.com] Retire Here, Not There: Tennessee Low taxes and natural beauty are boosting the state’s image among retirees Tennessee is unlikely to be at the top of boomers’ lists of prime retirement locations, but with its scenic, rolling hills and low cost of living, perhaps it should be. LivingProof User ID: 59883602 United States 07/05/2014 01:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Retire to St Petersburg, Florida. Beautiful weather and beaches and a very livable city. Tampa isn't as good in my opinion even though it's just across the bay. Treasure Island Florida is awesome. Trust me if you like Florida that's the place to go. Very safe area and tons of stuff to do plus you,re only a few hours away from Miami and the keys. I lived there for a year and can't wait to move back. Also the housing is very affordable in that area, way less expensive than Miami. Check it out and you won't be sorry, unless you hate all of the above mentioned things and can't handle 3 or 4 months of very hot and humid weather, which I love by the way, you'll always get thunderstorms to cool things off though. It is hotter than Miami for a good portion of the year if you can believe that. Wonderful place though and highly reccomended If the shit hits the fan though, you will be screwed if you're in st Pete, but we're all pretty much screwed anywhere we live in one way or another so why not live in an awesome place you live. Best of luck friend, Tennessee is beautiful but full of weird hillbilly rednecks. Had a roommate from tennesse and it turns out the fucker was a sex offender and almost killed his baby. Look this fuckers name up on Google you'll find articles on him, his name is Elijah Mcghee, some scary shit this guy was one weird fucker lol, lesson learned, always do a background check or at least Google search on potential roommates, blah blah blah,Florida was awesome besides that crazy sex offender roommate but you won't have to worry about that. The area is very lovely. He is actively trying to get the whole family to move up there. We've visited a few times and we didn't want to come home. It's an amazing place with a great energy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 52901399 United States 07/05/2014 01:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in murfreesboro tn. It is just south of Nashville and I think it's awesome. I'm 28 and moved from Germany to middle Tennessee. I have lived here half of my life. 14 years and running. I'm not a big fan of big cities anyway. If you lobe nature then I would advise moving here. The landscapes are beautiful. My favorite place to go is monteagle mountain to eat at Jim Olivers smokehouse. They have the best all you can eat barbecue buffet. I used to work there for a few years. All in all Tennessee has Nashville and country music, many arks, Graceland in Memphis and many other attractions. Don't let anyone fool you if they say it aucks because they probably have never lived here. The best thing is there isnt many ghettos down here. LOL. Depending were you move. If you move to the mountains it is so secluded you will never be bothered. So all in all I hope you move here because I know you will enjoy it. Good Luck. Quoting: tennessee101 30530539 Lucky, Murfreesboro has 2 Culver's. I live in Clarksville, TN but I'm not from here. Like any place there are pluses and minuses. I'm not crazy about it here but housing is cheaper and the economy is not too bad here. |

Quoting: Sky Pilot Is Tennessee a Good Place to Live / Retire? If so, what parts would you recommend? I live in Knoxville,TN for 40 years, it;s a good state to live. You get all 4 seasons hare are nice, cost of living and food is really good compared to the rest of the nation. The people are polite and respectful. I would reccomend East Tennessee Counties of Sevierville and Blount,Loudon and Anderson co's. Any cities between Knoxville and Chattanooga that are decent sized and good to live in. Do more research online ot narrow down your preferences. Lots of choices in the areas I mentioned for outdoor living / indoor living. Hope this helps and good luck. |

There are so many black racists that it ruins it for both races. Google Henri Brooks, and you will get a very small taste of what life has been like for those poor people that live there. |

I dont have time to link the stories but they should still be up on the internet.full disclosure, I travelled the same highway and not pulled over but I did in a motorhome. most motorhomes don't get pulled over for some reason.do a search on the stories it is real . as for retirement I feel the central atlantic coast of fla would be good but only because I lived in fla most my life. |
