Pluto was downgraded in its classification to dwarf leaving eight planets of the Solar System described as major. The new body, known to astronomers as 2003-UB313,has been named Eris by the International Astronomical Union. The California Institute of Technology astronomer who found it, Michael Brown, says it is the tenth planet. I'm Just the messenger of this news. |

Is this article correct? Has Pluto be classified as a planet again? The title is from a historical perspective. There are hundreds of trans-Neptunian objects, at least one of which is bigger than Pluto. That is why the IAU found it necessary to come up with a definition for planet and dwarf planet. Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris are officially dwarf planets. There might be more. Reaching for the sky makes you taller. Hi! My name is Halcyon Dayz and I'm addicted to morans. |

Halcyon Dayz, FCD User ID: 37781229 Netherlands 01/11/2015 10:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | no, our "scientific community" decided Pluto is too small to be considered a real Planet. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62786017 It isn't Pluto's size that disqualifies it as a planet. 1 - is in direct orbit around the Sun. Check. 2 - is massive enough for its gravity to turn it into a nearly round shape. (But not a star.) Check. 3 - has cleared its neighbourhood region from planetesimals. Nope. If Pluto was in Earth's orbit, everything else being the same, it would be a planet. Reaching for the sky makes you taller. Hi! My name is Halcyon Dayz and I'm addicted to morans. |
