Quoting: Mister Obvious Just sayin'. Really? It doesn't exist in physical reality? And the scam we call Fiat is somehow supposed to be any better? The whole world is swingin' to the rhythm of artificially created Debt Slavery and people still complain that one of the few viable alternatives to Fiat (bitcoin) somehow "isn't real" despite over 90% of the US Dollar money supply existing solely digitally on computers. In short, your argument doesn't make any damn sense. |

How easy are they to get and use? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69553173 As to your question OP, you should really study up on it first. You might start here: [link to bitcoinintro.com] Also, find some youtube videos. But ignore any material you find on mining. A lot of older website and videos advise people mine their own bitcoin. That was once feasible, but no longer unless you have a solar powered warehouse at the arctic circle filled with the latest ASICS that you probably had custom designed for you by engineers in your employ. Basically, mining is dead for the average user. When you're ready, you can buy from coinbase.com or circle.com Store them on a mobile HD wallet, such as breadwallet for iphone. Winter is Coming. |

I don't ever propose to buy cabbages. Let's say food! If Greece defaults, within 3 months the catastrophe of global economic collapse and massive worldwide default on 1.8 quadrillion dollars in derivatives will leave America completely broke... US dollars will be worth toiletpaper and hyperinflation will have taken off. Better have land, gold, guns, god, grub or you are gone. |

How easy are they to get and use? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69553173 Bitcoin is not safe. (1) Government can just pass a law making it illegal. (2) Federal Reserve can (and does) create any amount of money they want out of thin air, so, since there are a limited number of Bitcoins, Feds can just buy up enough Bitcoins to control the Bitcoin market. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 65445753 United States 06/29/2015 02:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bitcoin is not safe. (2) Federal Reserve can (and does) create any amount of money they want out of thin air, so, since there are a limited number of Bitcoins, Feds can just buy up enough Bitcoins to control the Bitcoin market. I would argue that in a currency disaster scenario, it is far safer than the troubled currency. While government can pass a law making it illegal, they can't really control it or stop it. There are plans to broadcast the blockchain from a satellite. Even if they shut off the internet in one country, they could use the rail roads, radio, etc. to transmit a transaction. I'm not talking about USD collapsing, but say Greece or any other country that is unstable, when it hits the fan, may be able to switch to Bitcoin. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Even the poorest countries have a really high % of smart phones already capable of transaction easily. Federal reserve may print all they want, but the supply of Bitcoin will dry up very quickly and if they do that it will jump 10x - 100x up. At the current prices you can only buy about $1M worth of Bitcoin, if you try to buy up $100M worth, it would skyrocket. In fact if you get 10M people to each buy 1 Bitcoin and just freaking hold it, no government will be able to take it and control it. As far as quantum computing, yes that is a theoretical concern, but even then - the actual public address is hashed, and hashes are quantum resistant. It is only an issue if you reuse bitcoin addresses, instead of sending the change to a new address any time you make a transaction. Hope that helps a bit. |
