What the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 was meant to exclude "political radicals," "immoral," and overall "undesirable" immigrants - but what it actually did was open up immigration and naturalization to be available to "non white" immigrants. However, it did retain a max quotas of immigrants who can migrate from certain regions; the only exception were migrants of trades and skill-sets which were considered valuable at the time. No mention of religion.
