How many of those are controllable, have dams and do they ALL go into Lake Oroville??? Yes they all go into oroville, I do not know which ones are controllable release, the majority but not all. |

Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed Nephew working on the dam says they are getting out. They feel it's a lost cause and think it's going to fail within three days. The Weir has been compromised despite all efforts to divert a leaky area on the western lake side. The erosion has made a full breach, albeit very small for now but they expect it to grow exponentially.Rumblings detected deep within the dam yesterday and again this morning have them all spooked as it may be getting ready to slide. They are looking into some of the data gathered from Sat, Sun and this morning. The kid is getting out now. good luck and practice holding your breath. Expect them to call for a re-evacuation today or tomorrow. Look to the mixed up lake levels for proof. Quoting: Forty Six & 2 ... Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed From SACBEE article linked above.. This is VERY doomy.First I heard of these up river reservoirs. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72730376 The largest of these is Lake Almanor near Chester. It stores 1,142,000 acre feet, around one-third of the storage capacity of Lake Oroville. During the recent storms, PG&E operators have worked to keep the popular recreation lake below the 4,494-foot elevation maximum, releasing water through a small outlet at the base of the dam as well as a tunnel to Butt Valley Reservoir, 10 miles south of Almanor. Read more here: [link to www.sacbee.com] What if the Reservoir at Lake Almanor fails, will it send its entire contents(1/4th of Lake Oroville) down the slope? It sounds like they would also have to use their "emergency spillway" for the first time...flooding the town of Chester. The visual on post # 1282 at this link is helpful. [link to www.metabunk.org (secure)] Yes any of these 11 upstream dams fail then oroville also fails, the water being diverted from almanor to butt valley to keep almanor from overflowing still flows from butt valley to oroville. They have been playing games to hit their public 850 number by holding back water upstream and creating a bigger problem now that all that upstream capacity is used up and they timed it so that happened just on the cusp of more coming rain and the snow melt season. Insane if you ask me, planning to keep oroville at 850 my end up proving to be the fatal decision. |
