50.2 density spike so far, low velocity, weak magnetic field attached to it.

well now this IS a REAL CME that is unfolding, hurting my chest, so I just rechecked it. 50 Protons recorded a bit ago, waiting for the 1900 UTC hour to be reported, because it's over 50 right now on ACE graph. The wind is not rising much, so its a CME.

Nope no (even remotely) earthbound CME in the past 5 days.

Although I do consider the solar wind coming from coronal holes to be a 'Slow release CME'

They cannot see all the CME's a lot of time.

this one hit 70 protons! From ACE data. Wind just starting to come up now, this is a typical CME. There was nothing slow release about this OTOC. This was a whammy. and now the wind begins to go up, typical of CME. Coronal HOles do NOT release this quantity of Protons.

This one may get labeled a shock wave, depending on the wind following up.

Actually this is typical of a higher velocity solar wind coming from a coronal hole than the background wind, hence the 'bow shock' like effect where the faster wind pushes the slower wind into a higher density block.

It's not a CME though, I watch these things very closely NIP.

I do not have an untrained eye.

If you can see one on stereo, SDO, SOHO or any other then link and show me the time anywhere in the past 5 days that is remotely earthbound.

IF you cannot see anything on any of them, then it was not a CME.

Because, no matter what you might say about it being a CME, WE would of seen one with that amount of density over that amount of time.

Pretty sure it's a he.. and pretty sure that it is Candace.

Sometimes he is right on things, but he gets a little mental other times.

Yes NIP is Candace and I watch the stuff too and there are many CME's off the front of the sun that are not seen, or detected and then you have NASA sites all the time posting we have CME's coming in on spaceweather that never materialize. As I suggested this one may get labeled a shock wave, we will have to see what they call it, but the coronal hole is yet to come that is facing us, and when (and if, because they fizzle out sometimes) it does the wind will soar.

Coronal holes do not manifest with protons of 70!!!!!! They are "wind events, not proton events. On the bigger ones, the protons might hit 20 or so. This event had 70.8 at it's height. And no wind initially, with gradual wind after the bulk of it is over. That is the pattern of a CME.


ALSO CANDACE IS NOT A HE, I AM FEMALE. I have two children (grown) which I did carry and birth. That does register me as female.

And I look alot like my avatar which I created, except when I created it, I didn't have the option of putting some white hair on top. I am 63 years old.

And yes I still work with starfleet, who would confirm this is a CME, except I have not asked them today, they are awfully busy on a long list of "to do's", as this planet is in serious shit.

Time for some maths, Earth-sun distance right now is about 147,500,000 km.

With a solar wind velocity of around 475km/s

147,500,000/475 = 310 526

(310526/60)/60 = 86.25

That's 3 days and 14 hours and 15 minutes

Notice how the edge of the hole is facing us?

Its the coronal hole.

Now prove me wrong with any images of this dense >2 hour long (at impact) CME. Anything at all, show me an explosion on the solar surface where the CME might of taken place, show me the tiniest puff on any coronagraph cameras... a shockwave across the sun... anything at all.

Since I cannot see any, any at all, and the timeframe matches to the coronal hole facing us, I'm going to side with logic here.

OTOC I have been back for some time now. This was a proton blast, which is a CME, followed right on in by the Coronal Hole. It's all evidenced on NICT particularly by the AE Index. I could point out a reason for the massive Proton blast but you don't want to hear it and they aren't all obvious on man's instruments. They can in fact never be seen at all on Stereo A and B or missed when there's no images. Coronal holes do NOT blast us with 70.8 protons. Not their nature. The coronal hole came in on the second much smaller surge of protons.

Hmm you have me mixed up with somebody else. I use their data all the time.

And shortly a few hours ago we began receiving a coronal hole, wind is rising some, yet to be determined how high, but looks like it may be tapering already.

Before somebody craps at me, I mean the results, the incoming energies from the coronal hole, not the hole itself.

How are they able to broadcast a normal looking magnetosphere but experiencing a power outage. that does not make sence. and how about the fact that you can't see the images of the fucked up magnetosphere on the 29th. They aint kidding when they call them recent images. youd think that as scientists, they'd WANT to show the weird things that happen. Something tells me they know whats going on..

It's not good or bad, it just is... The omega symbol shape of the magnetosphere is from the spike in density, which is mot likely a dense globule of plasma, from either the sun or interstellar space. But that spike cannot be from a CME because they tend to make the density spike last a lot longer and it's more gradual.
