What size oxygen tanks??...2 doesn't seem like enough, you should consider a re-breather/scrubber system for air supply. A Safe doesn't seem like the best designe for an escape pod, especially if there are massive tsunamis.. Submit your design and we'll take a look.. |

But there is 0% of survival otherwise for those who live under sea level. I don't plan on being in there long. Hopefully there will be enough warming to jump in and seal myself in. After it passes I will immediately take my chances swimming out and up. I chose a safe because it's going to take a severe beating. |

Night Shade X User ID: 901142 Israel 02/26/2010 01:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am modifying a large safe to be a sort of pod that I will be able to survive in when 2012 comes and there are mile high tsunamis. As this massive wave approaches I will lock myself in my padded safe where there are 2 oxygen tanks, food and water. After the massive tsunami hits, I will safely swim up with my inflatable raft and search for dry land. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 667950But you will NEVER find it... wah ha ha ha...! You won't be able to get out,the water pressure will keep you sealed in.. You need to build one of these.. [link to www.niagarafallslive.com] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 901161 Netherlands 02/26/2010 01:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I will have a small screw inserted into the safe. When it is nearing time for me to escape, I will remove the screw and slowly let the water leak in to neutralize the pressure. THen it should be easy to open the safe once it is completely filled with water. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 667950Lol! |

The pressure will hold your down rock solid shut. If you manage a way to open it, and are beyong a couple atmopheres pressure, it will severly damage/kill you. Solution: Make a bigger bug out kit. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 667950 United States 02/26/2010 01:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am thinking of putting it completely underground with the door facing up. That way when the tsunamis near, i will run out side and jump in the safe. When the door is closed, it is parallel to the ground, maybe a few inches under. This will increase the odds that the safe does not get banged around and I will be able to open the door unless some heavy lands on top if it (i'll take the chance) I then will slowly let the water sink in, neutralize the pressure, swim up and out with my food, water, and raft. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 151657 Japan 02/26/2010 01:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see a few problems with your idea. 1) if you rae submerged the safe will leak 2) if you are submerged you will struggle to open the door. 3) How the hell do you close a safe fromt he inside? 4) what happens if the safe is lying door down? 4) what happens if something falls on the safe door? 5) Where are you going to store/enter the safe? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 901161 Netherlands 02/26/2010 01:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My biggest fear is I will survive the impact but the safe gets knocked over and lands door facing down. I would then be forever trapped and my safe becomes a tomb. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 667950I am thinking of putting it completely underground with the door facing up.
