Trust me it is not because they do not care....the world has changed and people cling to those they know out of fear. Remember, all churches are filled with imperfect people trying to learn the right way to live. So many think that people are perfect in church and that is why they are now accepting them...not true. If you choose to not go back it is ok. Church will never be your faith...it is personal with God! Just stay close to HIM! Blessings!

We have three of them here in Brevard county.

Start a little and informal bible study group at home on a Friday or Saturday night, or for Sunday brunch... that feeds your soul.

All you need is one other person that you can pray over or pray with, and study with. Make up your mind to love that person and care for their soul, as you care for your own soul.

I stopped going to church because it was destroying my faith. I still read the bible a lot though.. and I talk frequently with one other believer.

Calvary Chapels HAS been solid because of the attention to Bible study but are now going to the dark side with the rest. Over half have embraced the Emerging Church model.
Look up the REDISCOVERING GOD IN AMERICA CONFERENCE at the Costa Mesa men's conference a few months ago.... note the logo!

Find a home church. It is the way of the future for Bible Believing Christians. Persecution is coming anyway so the organized church will be gone soon. There WILL BE Shill Churches... those are always around.

Now maybe I'm weird, but in a way this is a good thing if it wakes people up. There are many ways for people to hide from God, and just being a "pew sitter" in a mega church where you go to be aroused each week is one of them.

It's hard to break through the barriers to make genuine contact with folk in church - or elsewhere... Ironic really.

Find a local body that's going in what you think is the right direction... and just barge right in. What I did several years ago - after visiting several dead, stodgy churches - was just decided that the one I was visiting was going to be the one, then I started introducing myself to everyone... and when that didn't work I started welcoming newcomers in the lobby of the church. I built my own constituency... It worked because other people are in the same boat you're in. Most people who visit churches receive no personal outreach from the elect...

Good luck with it. Make the church you want to attend.

small group in home church is where its at.

plus it grooms us for when we have to go into hiding.. to even congregate for bible study and worship.

bty we have one of those mega churches here. it is gobbling up the little churches.

The best place to hide might be in a big, dead church...

No one will mess with them because they're not a threat. And you get the use of the facilities, lol...

Meow....I have been there! I haven't belonged to a church for years and years now. The church in America is sleeping. It is not doing what the Father said....'to love one another.'

Forgive them from your heart...move on....and just seek the LORD and HIS will for you. In time, HE will bring true believers for fellowship. I use to be very upset about not having a body of believers....but now I just leave it in the LORD's hands. HE is taking of me.

Calvary Chapel is the most biblically accurate church I've ever attended. I think that you made a good choice in going to the church. BUT...you're right, you can be a face in the crowd IF YOU WISH to be. If you wish to make friends and get into a group or two you can do that as well. I've never seen a more open group of people. Just put some feelers out in groups that interest you...college age group, youth group, missions, women's study or men's, whatever you are. They're open and understanding and pretty much let you roll wherever you want!

I was invited to attend for Sunday service awhile back and I showed up wearing a Hawaiian shirt...I was not invited back > lol

And OP i went to one of the kook calvary churches in palm bay florida in brevard county and they had twin 109 inch tv's a full band and were telling people to convert and "be real" for the first time in your life. i was like wtf what kinda church is this .... all they care about is money and sending "god pods" ipod like devices into islamic states ... i never went there again . im not even christian im episcopalian but i wanted to check it out to see what a calvary chapel was like. it reminded me of one of those shark ass , predator televangalist super churches you see on tv i hated it.

and hardly anyone even had "sunday best" on most were wearing bum ass jeans and t shirts i even saw some chic in a skirt barely covering her ass... I now goto St Sebastian in indi-atlantic on beachside. small church , pastor wears traditional garb not street clothes stained glass windows , pues and no judgment of any kind check it out if your ever in the area.... im only 2 hrs north of you better yet look me up and ill go with you !!!

Obviously the wrong church for you . . . Believers should be friends and care for each other . . . Take the hint and find a place you are not invisible . . . People of faith need others to maintain community and humanity . . . Christ never told his followers to be alone or to worship alone . . . You need others to care for you and who you are. . . .simple . . . Keep looking you will find God in the most unusual places even in CHURCH . . .
