Many New Jersey residents think that Indian Point nuclear facility is a New York concern. Disaster knows no man-made borders. When Fukushima blew, all Americans within 50 miles were told to evacuate. Indian Point is approximately 15 and 35 miles from Northern New Jersey. We are within the 50 mile evacuation zone and would have to permanently abandon our homes. Besides personal tragedy, the property loss would be in the billions. This plant is built on an earthquake fault line. Indian Point is made to withstand an approximate 6.0 earthquake, and we just had a 5.8 quake. [link to www.strausnews.com]

Hi OP,

I want to thank you for keeping this thread going.

My personal experience is that there really is something big going on, something they don't want people to know about.

At the time this "Accident" happened, many Community's here in Germany who have a Partnership with Fukushima and other Japanese Community's, offered their help by getting people out of the danger-zone. Many German Families signed up to give people a place to stay but our help was denied right from the start.
We was told that no one could leave Japan and that everything was under control.
We knew right then that those Japanese People was left to die.

4.2 quake just hit fuku again

Actually, the translation isn't so bad, but the original article is written in a confusing way and I think something isn't quite right with what is written.

What we need is a diagram of the cooling and filtering system to determine if maybe the tank is a part of separate loops. One loop for the containment vessel and the other loop for the spent fuel storage pool.

I may have studied that many months ago, but I don't remember now. Building 4 is the weird one because of that monster spent fuel storage pool. To be honest, I shifted my attention away from that building once they properly reinforced the spent fuel storage pool. We had a fear for many months that the pool would collapse.

By the way, that earthquake on January 1st was one really weird earthquake. Really weird! And I still don't like what happened that day. I have a bad feeling about that one, just like I had a bad feeeling about that one on March 9th last year.

I posted on another site's forum about my bad feeling soon after the March 9th quake. Of course, I had no idea that two days later we were going to get hit with the 9M. But when it started on March 11th at about 2:45 I knew immediately what was going on and that we were in big trouble. I told the folks around me at the time, total strangers, that tsunamis were going to be the number one trouble. That was like moments after the first big shock, then we had the 2nd and 3rd shocks that were not as strong, but plenty strong enough to shake the heck out of us and freak one poor lady out. Was all I could do to keep her from going into toal panic and loss of control.

Anyway, it was a bad day. And there are thousands with similar stories and so many thousands we wish we could hear their stories, but they're gone forever.

Mother Nature kickin' our butts on March 11th. And reminding us on New Year's Day, this year, she is still the boss.

Using particles from space to look into the heart of nuclear reactors--this is the goal of researchers at Nagoya University.

The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned that a team of researchers from the university is developing technology to use elementary particles from space to see into the interiors of crippled reactors at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.

Their aim is to establish technology that can obtain images similar to X-rays of what is happening inside the Nos. 1 to 3 reactors, whose cores melted down in the wake of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. plans to start operations to move melted-down nuclear fuel out of the reactors within the coming 10 years as a step toward decommissioning them.

To do so, the power utility must know exactly where the lumps of nuclear fuel are in the reactors. The government has therefore thrown its support behind the critical project at Nagoya University.

June bugs...I had an Uncle in Southern California that would catch June bugs and tie fishing line to them. Then he would hand them to us to fly like a kite. He did the same thing with my kids when we went to visit. Good times!

Take charge of TEPCO et. al. for the period they are liable to pay.

Noda wants temporary storage facility in Fukushima
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has asked the governor of Fukushima to allow the government to build a facility in the prefecture to temporarily store radioactive soil.

Noda visited a disaster-hit area for the first time this year and met Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato at the prefectural office on Sunday. Sato said he would like the government to remember that many people from Fukushima were unable to celebrate the New Year in their hometowns.

He said children are the future of Fukushima and their health must be protected. He urged Noda to provide free medical services to all Fukushima residents under the age of 19.

Sato said the damage caused by the accident was so severe that it had seriously undermined confidence in the government's nuclear policy. He asked Noda to shut down and dismantle all 10 reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini plants as called for in the reconstruction plan.

Fukushima governor says accident not yet contained
Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato has called on the government to deal responsibly with the nuclear accident until the evacuees are able to return home.

The central government and Fukushima held a regular meeting on the prefecture's reconstruction on Sunday. Sato criticized the declaration made by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda in December that the nuclear accident had been contained.

He said the sentiments of Fukushima residents are very different, and asked the government to understand this.

He said a declaration that the accident has been contained can only be made after all the evacuees return home. He urged the government to deal responsibly with the accident until that time.

Over 330 pets rescued from Fukushima no-entry zone
Many pets have been abandoned in the no-entry zone around the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. More than 330 dogs and cats were rescued in December.

The Environment Ministry and Fukushima Prefecture have conducted rescue operations for dogs and cats in the no-entry zone. The animals were left there because, either their owners died in the March 11th disaster, or they could not take them to evacuation shelters.

There is no way in hell Tepco will be able to handle this themselves. For whatever reason, the gooberment does not want them to go under.

Better deal for the g ovt because, ultimately, they want complete control. Not to say they don't have it, anyway.
