Yeah I'm sure if an EMP fubars the grid and puts us back to the stone age, that it'll surely be one of our "enemies", you know, Iran, NKorea, Cuba...one of those military powerhouses. Yup you betcha. But since, post-EMP, there'll be no way to communicate that "fact" to us, they need to pre-emptively get it into the collective mindset, so that "if" it "does" happen, we all know who is and who is not to blame. Rally 'round the US gubmint, they're here to "protect" us should such an event occur. I took a primitive living skills course with a prominent instructor over the summer for this reason. It is the most probable and greatest threat to humanity in present time, these have been happening all throughout human history but only in the last 100 years have we made the transition to full dependence upon technology. 100 years is not a long time for the Sun. And of course "it" will happen this way, you have to understand that this will happen only when this perfect shit storm of international/domestic unrest begins to precipitate.

If you have the means, I would highly suggest taking a primitive living skills / bushcraft course that covers skills applicable in the habitat of your local area, or at least have a plan with multiple alternatives, a place to go, and go to the library and research how the local indigenous people of your area were able to live without iphones and grocery stores.

The occurrence of a solar storm with a magnitude severe enough to effect our technologically dependent lives gets more likely and likely as the days pass, these storms are inevitable and have been averaged to occur approx. once in a century. The last one was in 1859.... Trust me you are better off to spend 400 dollars now on a course that gives yourself the education to survive and protect those you love in a situation like this, than have 400 pieces of beautiful green fiat to burn as kindling after the fact.

the 500 million is a maximum not a starting point , try more like 50 million and thats being generous
