Everything west of 25th street is a pretty good place to live. Everything east of it is a hell hole. I use to attend Blackhawks games on a regular basis but now the area surrounding United Center is really bad. Make a wrong turn and you can be on serious trouble. Quoting: The Dudester I live in the western suburbs, maybe 20 miles from downtown and life here is pretty good. I'm allowed to have my guns, the schools are great, and crime is low. I also pay $15,000 a year in property tax which is high but you get what you pay for. The biggest property tax contributor in my town is McDonald's Corp. Hate their food but I love their $$$$$. The cops are good and very wuick to respond if something happens. I only wonder when we will eventually be infiltrated by criminals looking for a new area to score. I figure the further we sink, the more it spreads. Your situation is similar to most of metropolitan America I think. My suburban N.TX city is great and the police say most of the crime occurs along our borders with Dallas, especially near Section 8 housing. Whodathunk? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7176674 Sure, no guns allowed and now without a 911 call system(rahm cost cutting) even better! Negroes coming up from the south side where there's slim pickin's to Michigan Ave, Wrigleyville, to beat up/rob Caucasions in the 'good' neighborhoods. Only gettin' better. And God forbid you're a retailer open on MLK Day when all the negro kids are out of school. That is because he is fighting being sent to... that's right, prison. Very informative post, OP. 5* Out of curiosity, what are the governors in prison for? What's the possibility of jackson going to prison? What did he get caught for? George Ryan: Ryan's political career was marred by a scandal involving the illegal sale of government licenses, contracts and leases by state employees during his prior service as Secretary of State; in the wake of numerous convictions of former aides, he chose not to run for reelection in 2002. All told, seventy-nine former state officials, lobbyists, and others have been since charged in the investigation, and at least 76 have been convicted. The corruption scandal that led to Ryan's downfall began over a decade earlier as a federal investigation into a deadly crash in Wisconsin that killed six children of Rev. Duane "Scott" Willis and his wife, Janet. The investigation revealed a scheme inside Ryan's secretary of state's office in which unqualified truck drivers obtained licenses through bribes. As the AP wrote: "The probe expanded over the next eight years into a wide-ranging corruption investigation that eventually reached Ryan in the governor's office."
