Re: Coffee Klatch
Hey I forgot to tell you all one thing that I made that was awesome.

It was asparagus spears, took half a thin slice of procutto or however you spell it, wrapped it around the asparagus, then I took croissant dough from the cans like a biscuits, and cut them into long strips, about 6" long, wrapped them around the asparagus so it looked like the pattern of a candy cane. Then I rolled them in parm cheese and baked them for 20 mins.

They were AMAZING, they looked really great and expensive, added color to the table, tasted amazing, and it took me all of 20 mins to prep up about 120 of them and I did it the day before, pulled them out of the frig and popped them in the oven as guests were arriving. I am going to try them with regular ham next time since the Italian ham is so pricey. Everybody went nuts over them, they really were delicious.

They would make a good holiday dish or appetizer

Sounds yummy and easy for a group gathering. Thanks for sharing. I've done green beans wrapped with bacon - but this sounds way better!

I will try it soon. We are going to have a couple friends gathering after hunting season. Not a couple of friends, but couple friends...the couples we have been friends with for years. It's a great way to get together and just enjoy each others' company.

Hope everyone is doing well and busy with the great game we call life. Things here are ok. Planning to work on my home office this weekend. I figure the easiest way to get oldest daughter and grandson back to Oregon is to convert the extra space for selfish reasons. It's that Murphy's Law thing. lol

So much for tearing apart my office - duty calls. Mother in law had to have a large tumor removed in her abdomen. Running up North to pick her up from the hospital and get her settled. I need one of the Staples Easy buttons....

I hope so too. It was a very large tumor but had not spread. They were able to remove it and as of now, no chemo needed. We will get her settled and do some fixing and cleaning at her place. It's been a while since she was able to do very much.

I need to hit the river again. I loved being totally out of touch and no cell phone service!

Its both the property mgmt. is being a pain in the ass for me at the moment. I wish I lived near a river that wasn't so murky and gator filled. I just cant see myself camping overnight and waking up to a gator near my coffee pot.

There is something so peaceful about a river and the woods isn't there.

Hope everyone is doing well. It has been nothing but Ebola news lately! Hoping we dont keep hearing about it and it goes away. I worry being so close to mickey mouse land.

I have been really busy with this soapmaking internet site, hoping its up and running by the end of the month but its looking less likely each day. There is so much to add but I would like to have what is already on the site to at least go live and then do another addition when the rest of the stuff arrives.

What is everyone else up to?

Back home again. That very large tumor was 30 pounds! We had a bit of an emergency as my mil hemoraged in the middle of the night and had trouble breathing. Ambulance back to the local hospital where they looked her over and called another ambulance to take her back to the big hospital in Eugene that did the surgery. They added a few more stitches and kept her over night. She seems much better now. Hope so since we can't get back up there till next weekend.

not yet SO, there were issues with the shipping so they are going back thru each item individually. They had it set up for weight and some of my large products were being set up to ship in flat rate boxes which they dont fit in, so they have to go back in and enter HxWxL on every item to fix that and change the settings. Hoping for this weekend.

On another note, call me crazy but I am getting a bull calf today in about 4 hours.

Bull calf? Hope you have good fencing, they tend to roam to find a female when the urge hits. Don't want to see you running down the road with a can of oats to bring him back to pasture. On the upside, you can train a calf.

Well crazy me, I have had the word out for several months on getting a bull. So I got the calf, cute as crap and we named him Earl. He is really little and I am worried that he may not make it. He did have 3 days on mama but then they took him from her, kinda crazy but it seems that is standard practice. This is a dairy bull and so I am bottle feeding it a half gallon of milk replacer a day. It got the shits yesterday and I figured it was from the 6 hr car ride, which funny as crap, he rode in the back seat of a truck not the pickup bed but in the people section. They had larger cows on a trailer that they had delivered before I got mine. It was my choice of 5 am or 1 pm and well, I am not a morning person. Anyway, I gave it pepto bismol and half of it didnt make it in his mouth. He didnt want to eat much that night and only took half a bottle. This morning he took the entire half gallon which made me happy but this afternoon he had the shits still so I gave him more pepto and another 1/8 gal of milk rep. he wouldnt take the entire quart. I hope the shits are done tomorrow cause this time I got it all in his mouth. Then, on top of that my vets wife calls me, (vet passed away in July) and says I cant take care of the animals if you want the bull I will have him delivered in an hour. So... we got a full grown 2.5yr old 1600lb bull who remains un named at the moment. We are thinking Larry cause that was our vets name. Now Elsie, our female heifer is very happy to see Larry and vice versa.

I am hoping they can eat down the pasture better now that there are two and that Larry teaches Elsie that the grass really does taste good cause she is a primadonna and likes to be feed grain and doesnt eat much grass. We have been reducing her grain to get her to eat some grass and she does it a little but not enough to keep up. After just one day with Larry I can notice a difference and if this keeps up I am selling the goats. They are cute but that damn Brownie who was raised on a bottle is the biggest PAIN IN THE ASS, wants to play constantly, is up your butt so bad that I cant even feed the animals without tripping over him and he seems to like to piss on his head and drink his piss even though there is plenty of fresh water. He even likes to pee on certain people, I guess the ones he either really likes or really doesnt like, not sure cause he does like me alot but he has not gotten me yet. I do try to avoid getting in the pissing zone though, but he did get my son and daughter. Rosie the girl is sweet as can be and I would keep her but Brownie is driving me nuts. My sole purpose in getting them was to have perpetual lawn mowers, not for food or milk, just maintenance.

I have learned alot about cows over the past few days that is for sure!

Sounds like you have your hands full again. Hoping little Earl adjusts and things settle with his tummy. That big bull Larry may teach your prima donna a thing or two about living off the land. As for Brownie, lol - I have heard drinking your own pee boosts the immune system. He will probably outlive us all!

We spent the day over there, built him a playground (brownie), a tire hanging for him to buck, a half buried tire to climb on which he seems to love, and some old mobile home stairs (3 steps) leading to a platform built between two trees. Thats a start I guess.

He seems to favor running water, my hubby peed on a bush while over there and he ran up and drank it mid stream. Hubby turned quickly and the damn thing ran for more. There is a perfectly good water feeder there for him but he prefers pee. I am never kissing that goat!

Earl was doing better today, his stool isnt hard but is thicker, not water and he still has an appetite so I think we are moving in the right direction.

Elsie was actually chewin on some hay and grass today. Larry is bulldozing small sapling trees like a steamroller. He is like some big creature in a horror movie that knocks down everything in its path. He is not aggressive, just likes to rub on trees and they snap. LOL

My site went live tonight and there are a few glitches but they will get fixed. The rest of it will go up in the next few months section by section.

She is doing better but still swelling! She has huge legs all the way up to her torso but the face and arm swelling have gone down and the belly is going down day by day.

She is still pretty sore but that is to be expected with a C section. The baby has days and nights mixed up so she is an angel when I am around on babyzilla when the clock strikes 11 pm and I am told it continues till 6 am. LOL
