Ethanol has always been about one thing. The big farm lobbies. ADM and the like. It's barely any energy gain and comes at a huge cost.

Only biofuel that makes sense is biodiesel from waste oils. Eventually from algae as well. Plants create oils that can burn cleanly in a diesel engine. For an unmodified engine it needs minor refining, people do it in a garage.

When Obama took over he dumped government support for hydrogen promoting biofuels and electric plug ins. Apparently believing that the box in the wall where electricity comes from is MAGIC. Spends billions of Tax payer dollars to promote solar power. Spends billions to promote the Chevy volt

Meanwhile Toyota and BMW kept right on working on Hydrogen fuel cell cars. They should have hydrogen stations in CA and NE by next year.
