John 14:1-3 says that jesus has gone to prepare a place for us somewhere. so i think there is a time we'll be there with him before his return to the mount of olives

the imminent rapture makes more sense so that it would be easy to set up the antichrist kingdom without all the christians protesting him.

Pre-trib rapture is popular with people who can't read.

These are clearly talking about the same trumpet, and it even tells you which one it is. THE LAST TRUMP, which means the RETURN OF JESUS. There are only 7 trumpets.

But what's the point of the hope of the rapture if we're really not going anywhere? Why even rapture at all?

I always thought the rapture would be a sign to the unbelievers to turn to Jesus.

For the record, I only "scoff" at illogical impracticalities. I'm In Christ, and couldn't live without Him. A belief in being wisked away to neverland is a peripheral goosechase, even an idol for many, as it makes zero sense to remove the body of Christ from earth the very moment they're finally empowered to do His works and actually be *useful* for a change.

Even pre-trib rapture Christians should realize that really, really bad things can happen before the rapture would occur. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were known as areas with significant Christians populations prior to the nuclear bomb attacks by one of the most "Christian" nations on earth. The people who suffered and died in the world wars were not saved by a rapture. The Christians who suffered and died in the Bolshevik revolution, under Stalin, and under communism in general in Russia were not raptured. The Christians of China are not preserved from persecution. I think you get the idea. Even if a rapture does occur at some time in the future, really, really bad things can happen in the interim.

To add, Christ was not stolen from anywhere, was a historic figure, did exactly as prophesied, and is coming back soon. The tribulation is our individual lives when we try and purge our sins. When we die we are raptures to Heaven if we overcame our sinfulness or at least if we have showed our will to follow Jesus and believe in Him. The problem for us is that the Devil tries and prevent us from trusting fully on Jesus so that He will take the sins away. This is the tribulation for us.

In the End of time, there is God's Wrath concerning the fallen Church to be Judged. May be the remnant living believers are taken out or at least hidden somewhere until His wrath is over with.

Im not a Christian, but I would consider rapture exegesis at all to be tenuous at best.

The Rapture is simply that Jesus will remove his people before the wrath of God is sent on the earth. It has nothing to do with avoiding suffering, or being super righteous, or being asked to board a space ship. Jesus promised that the church would not suffer the wrath of God; that's it.
