This has held true since 1994, except when the Republican base stays home because "screw em, they're not doing anything or doing all the wrong things" I could see some apathy, and I can see some demographic shift in the last two years, but I'm not sure we'll see a systemic wipe out of right wingers staying home while leftist are simultaneously galvanized. If anything, the apathy should be fairly consistent on both sides. Now, if this were George Bush and the war in Iraq going on 4 years and runaway spending by the Republicans... well, then okay. |
