Rustic Palms RV and campground had so many people who stayed in trailers. Quoting: . |

Recovery and Rescue Ongoing . Apocalyptic Damage! @hurricanetrack — Walking thru Mexico Beach to receive my GoPro cam and I’m telling you, it’s DEVASTATED. Truly devastated. Some buildings completely swept clean - only slabs. @iCyclone — It's hard to convey in words the scale of the catastrophe in Panama City. The whole city looks like a nuke was dropped on it. I'm literally shocked at the scale of the destruction. #Hurricane #MICHAEL Quoting: .Last Edited by CoronaCoaster on 10/11/2018 02:50 AM |

Recovery and Rescue Ongoing . Apocalyptic Damage! Ugh it is like a gut punch to see the pics out of Mexico Beach that are slowly coming in. It is probably my favorite place on the coast, although I have stayed pretty much everywhere down there. Great family memories- it is more laid back than Destin or Seaside or Seagrove Beach etc... still kinda old Florida. I am just so sad right now :( :( :( Quoting: snark [link to twitter.com (secure)] i used to work at toucans while back, any status on it? I see on one of my Facebook groups that it is gone. I am sorry - the picture they posted looks like it was taken as it was coming apart. before and after of Toucans :( [link to twitter.com (secure)] They should rename that place, "Two Cans," 'cause that all that's left, essa. |

Yes, it looks just like that. No wind, blue skies, then it starts all over again except blowing from other direction. Yes, the front side comes in gradually. But the back side slams in like a giant sledge hammer. Moonstar |

Recovery and Rescue Ongoing . Apocalyptic Damage! I have 7 neighbors plus me who have a livable house in my area of over 150 or so in New Bern so don't let a name thing get you down, things can get way worse, and in my situation they did. It's so bad I refuse to ride around and look at everything still, I feel so bad for everyone but what can I do? I'm not downplaying your loss, I'm sure it was bad and I empathize with you but I was in New Bern yesterday, the FEMA center set up in the old Rite Aid barely had anyone applying for assistance and the areas affected were mainly near the river and a block out. I was in the area of the old Sunbeam Bread building. The news hyped it up that 4300 homes were destroyed but I say under 1000. TrumpChange |

Recovery and Rescue Ongoing . Apocalyptic Damage! **frustration directed at what news and officials called this** This is horrible that this young lady is not with us. But given the devastation in Florida and Georgia should have been preparing for their turn. This is not a freak accident. This is exactly what happens during a hurricane. Things fly around and crash through buildings. The US just watched Florence and that wasn't even wind. But trees fell and fell and folks lost their lives from them. |

Recovery and Rescue Ongoing . Apocalyptic Damage! They don't want people helping people. "They" want us all totally dependent on "them" and not each other. Cajun Navy is far, far, far braver & more efficient than either FEMA or the Red Cross (which actually charges the people it helps at high interest rates.) TX victims from the previous disaster said the local churches who were there from the start treated them far better, gave them personal care items (confiscated immediately by the Red Cross) and fed them higher quality food. Real issue is that provisions need to be made well in advance all across the USA to evacuate the disabled WITH their pets in times of disaster. I once called the State of NV and was told emergency services would offer rides to those without the means if tragedy ever struck. At least with the many casinos there's plenty of convention space for rescue operations. FL and other states need to offer the same. The Red Cross sucks. After Sandy they told us they couldn't help anyone until it was "safe" to do so. So about a week later they showed up and did virtually nothing. Luckily we had the National Guard and local firefighters, cops, and volunteer citizens. We did just fine with that. Especially the locals helping each other. |
