Should I give up music?

Me and my brother.

The guitar was ok, not crazy about the kazoo.

Music is tough and very competitive. It's a nice hobby but a difficult living.

Trust me my brother is an insane genius.

If you can play music, that's an awesome gift. Don't give up on music...keep practicing, it only gets better. BTW, this sounded good except for the kazoo.

music has never been more disposable. It's over-saturated. I know someone that got a song in a Go pro video and they got $250. Know of another group that makes great money with sync music but they are pretty much studio musicans that sell a ton of songs ,but most likely would never get big in the mainstream. You also have to be willing and able to cross musical tastes and styles. Every generation it is a new sound.

Never stop creating and making music, just don't delude yourself that it's a viable option to live. That's not to say it's not possible, but you better be hungry and talented.

When you say 'Should I give up music?', do you mean to give up recording things such as what you posted, I say yes you should give it up. Don't give up playing instruments though. I suspect that you play in an amateur band already. Somebody here said that it is not easy to make a living as a musician, this is not true. If you practice endlessly and can sing well enough, you can make a good living on the road. The only setback is that you initially need to spend a good bit of cash on a good flexible PA and a reliable truck/van et cetera. Don't give up if you want to become a successful and serious musician. Good luck.

Sounds like 90s alt. Here's what I'd do. Flesh it out more. The kazoo melody is great if you just substitute it for a vocal melody. That's the issue I think people are having. It needs to be the vocals making that melody and it'll sound great over the guitar. The recording is kind of crappy, but it's fine for a demo like this. The most important part of any song is the melody and you already have a decent one. Write some lyrics and sing over it now.

Sounds good, but the days of making it big like the Beatles, Stones,Kiss and Doors are over.
People rather play and pay for video games. The creators of video games are the new rock stars.
Think about it. What`s cooler watching a bunch of guys play musical instruments or play Call of Duty or Fortnite?
Video games defeated the rock star.

If the Beatles, Stones, Doors, Led Zep, Pink Floyd and Elvis came out today they wouldn't make a dent in sales compared to Pokemon, Super Mario, Zelda and Grand Theft Auto.
Time has passed the music industry by unless you are a hot chick like Lady Ga Ga, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Kesha.

Being a male music man is so 1960s to 1990s.
Video games creator is where it is at.

Most musicians do it because they want to touch people in a special way.

I must be oldschool because I absolutely cannot stand watching other people play video games.

That said, I see nothing wrong with "video games" as a form of interactive art and stuff

I don't think the "days of music" are over..... I think it will be made and expressed in new and novel ways



I think AI will allow us even more exciting avenues for music writing and creation

Playing Fortnite and Call of Duty or Zelda is way cooler and fun in my opinion than watching dudes play guitar and bang drums about their love and romance stories.

I rather be interactive playing video games online than watching MTV.

Give me League of Legends and NBA 2K18
than have to watch dudes from the 60s to 90s sing about love songs.

I think A.I. will cater to the pop crowd first, but it'll spread to all genres. The only artists left will be those using crazy time signatures and chord progressions, but if that catches on A.I. will dominate that genre too. Basically, A.I. could be the end of artistic human expression.

And I don't think AI will take over anything or anyone..... Only assist us in what we want to do : )

One will still be able to thrive in the realm of tradition music making..... but just with the potential of additional help of technology such as AI and algorithms, computers, etc ....

That'd be great, but once a computer starts making artistic decisions it's not really assisting anymore, it's composing. But I see what you're saying. Worst case scenario is completely overtaking our expression.
