Ran into a friend last night at Walmart and now I remember her telling me it was the "unexpected" food stamps this month. My State paid February food stamps early because of the shut down with a letter explaining one would need to budget or something for next month... All kinda crazy gonna happen next moth as even if the shutdown is lifted tomorrow these folks are eating February food stamp food in January. No matter how you look at this, or what side you are on, the fast is we as a Country are going to see many hungry children next month. This is not going to end well... |

Some of the things that should have been low, weren't (pastas, beans, etc)and other things that shouldn't have been gone, were. (cottage cheese and cream cheeses? yogurts?) It was a strange sight. Lots of perishables were gone, actually. |

By far the most empty I have seen a wal mart. All due to this supposed, "lot" of snow on the way, lol. I will stop in Williamsport, on my way home today and let you know what it is like, we are supposed to get another foot or more up there. Last Edited by PatB on 01/19/2019 10:30 AM PB quotes... |

Just outside of Youngstown the last job i had before i move to fl was at Schwebels bakery. they had a depot in Canton. i drove a route truck down to Dover and New Phila. i used to party all night and then run my bread route. summer time i had a few of the summer camps and feel asleep at the wheel and ran the truck into a ravine. my boss hated me and many times i almost gave him a heart attack. It was a strange sight. Lots of perishables were gone, actually. Most people don't think more than a day or two into the future. I live in a rural area 10 miles from the nearest store or gas station. There is no city water here, so everyone is on private wells. If the power goes out, there is no water or refrigeration. You would think that people would realize that and have plenty of water and non-perishable food stored. I certainly do. After a big storm several years ago, our power was out for 5 days. By day 2, it looked like Bartertown around here, with people wandering around looking for water, gas and food. I imagine the people of walmart don't think about food going bad, just immediate convenience. I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

Easy to tell by looking at whats left on the shelf. If the Mt Dew, Doritos, Little Debbie and the 70/30% hamburger is gone but plenty of dried beans, canned good and water still on the shelf its the food stamp rush. Reverse the above and we may have a weather, conspiracy issue at hand... Last Edited by Soundman on 01/19/2019 11:45 AM Soundman |
