Do you know where the files are stored?

I use android (Marshmellow) and in order to move files from my phone to my computer I have to change the default USB setting from charging to 'file transfer'. So if it's just charging can it still transfer files?

Charging is the default behavior and there's no way to change the default.

Yeah, I'm sorry ChvyV8Bldr but that just isn't true.
It can if you run specific software on your PC that will synch up with your phone on connection. Of course you'd also have to agree to the request on your phone. Then again you can do all that without a wired connection. Wireless syncing is possible but again only in special circumstances with specific software and permissions enabled.

Same thing happened to me too!

Or just pull out the data pins, D+ and D-, on the cable.

Do not charge anything by connecting to a computer, use a dumb charger plugged directly into the wall outlet.

Not only can all your data get slurped to the computer, they can put malware right on your phone. This is one way they spread that junk.

Your phone's memory is already linked the moment it was manufactured.

If you don't mind the NSA, you're fine.

It can and does happen. Maybe not to everybody but it occurs.

photos n crap are less secure on your phone
every time you unlock it, they have all the access they want directly from the cell network

phone has no firewalls etc. to protect against that

never allow autorun etc.

these must be configured via specific settings, group policies, and manual registry hack entries

once configured nothing will ever be transferred that you don't manually transfer

none of my systems have ever been compromised

This conversation is moot.

Everything is saved and tracked.

Think about all the information that echelon has and why don’t they share....

A lot of bad people (from all rungs on the ladder) that should not be amongst society.

More importantly, what happens is the data between the two devices can be, is correlated.
