My guidance counselor and a lot of people in my class turned their nose up at this claiming I should go to a more prestigious institution like a lot of my classmates. To make a long story short, I ended school with $13000 of debt, and got a job in my field right out of school. Paid off that debt in a few years so it worked out well for me. Almost none of my classmates got a job in their chosen, and some were $50,000 in debt. Keep in mind this was 20 years ago, today that would be $200,000 in debt. Blue Horseshoe loves GLP |

IF you understand that you’ll need to continue school afterward, like say getting a law degree (J.D.). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74512300 You confuse education with vocational training. You also overestimate the value of a law degree. You can get a law degree and end up sitting in the courthouse processing collections judgments on ambulance and tow truck debt. |

Quoting: visitor 76197297 Yet, they gave these nondischargeable loans to Ritalin/Soy generation kids. I'm a conservative. I'm a tradesman. I have 3 degrees. (no debt) Not one of my degrees prepared me to be an entrepreneur. In each case, I paid a lot of money to be an employee Public universities didn't cost 250,000 in 1983-1987. The system is broken. The kids were sold a fraudulent bill of goods. The university system is being used to sell out the United States, flip demographics, and give away an American birthright to foreigners. They are sacrificing American kids on the altar to underwrite the debt. You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear You nearly had me roped and tied Altar-bound, hypnotized Pay attention to that word "Hypnotized" The people who pushed abortions have also figured out that if you put kids in insurmountable debt by 21, they will delay getting married and having kids. They bailed out the bankers. Its time to bail out, if nothing changes, our last American generation. Fuck no its not unless you are willing to bail out the mortgages of those that don't have a college debt also. I'll be damned if I have to pay taxes to bail out some dumb ass Libtard that now regrets forking out money for a useless degree that will only get him an entry level job. Shit I saw the writing on the walls when professors were basically passing out answers to the test and that others would outright cheat and the professors would allow it. Meaning there is no fucking accomplishment in a college degree these days. Shit they might as well just issue a degree when a cough cough student just writes them a check and get rid of the bullshit show of giving people an education. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74578395 United States 06/25/2019 04:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | An advanced degree would imply a masters or doctorate which does increase the cost of college. This all depends on which college you attended, your degree field, the total cost of the degree, and the date on which a degree was earned. The cost of a degree differs based on the date the degree was earned. If i earned the same degree in 2018 vs 2006 the cost would be at least double. That is very significant cost rise |

There is always good paying work for US citizen engineers in the defense sector. There are some things that just can't be outsourced for security reasons. And say what you will about our security clearance investigation standards, but defense employers always favor the ones who are most likely to get a clearance quickly. Many of us were simply tossed out on the street at 18, and college was only paid for so they could count us as dependents. There was no preparation, and no choice was allowed. My late boyfriend starved at his college for two weeks before he could finally get a work study job and have some food. Since the work study program would let cafeteria workers have all the soda they wanted but no food,he drank soda till he passed out cold on the floor.Shortly after he would develop diabetes.
