Quite the opposite I think. You sin daily, and beg forgiveness, to absolve you of your guilt. You're not living with it that way, you believe it is taken from your own hands, by a god that doesn't exist, just so you can feel good again.

I live with my decisions, no one can take that away, and I alone have to live with the ramifications of those decisions.
THAT'S brave buddy. You're way is the cowards way, absolving yourself to your mythical god.

Life is a great gift just as it is. Live it for what it is, an incredible gift from the universe. And YOU one out of uncountable trillions of possibilities won the greatest lottery eternity had to offer. Maybe there's nothing after this life, So what, it in itself is enough.

Imagine, what would you be thinking when you were nothingness?

although experience and authentic knowledge are impossible to convey, I can tell you this:

This life is not easy. Yah, the pain, at times does not make sense, but it is not without purpose.
You are immortal. This does become perfect in the end.
Hope is perfect.

The world would be exactly how it is now. All of my friends are atheists. A lot of them have their share of mental health issues, but I can't imagine faith will heal them. If it can't be measured in a lab, they won't bite.

The suffering in life can build character, but when it gets to be too much it's time to make a change. Remove the things causing you this pain or remove yourself from the painful situation. Change your life, find something that you enjoy.

You specifically stated " if you were told", so non-believers would still not believe, people of faith would continue to hold their beliefs, and those who know, would not have their knowledge waived or discredited by anyone.

Individuated Consciousness exists only in the Physical realm, and it has the ability to be enhanced/expanded, by personal experiences - which can be shared ... but it is up to you to KNOW the difference between TRUTH and DECEPTION - because you choose your own BELIEF SYSTEM - and if you choose to believe a lie - that is not my fault

LIFE is ETERNAL ... because we are Immortal beings ... that is why there are so many dimension of Life, to keep us progressing --- so that we can reach our FULL potential

That's what I believe and because of it I try to live my life consciously and experience everything I can while still doing my part to make things better.

In general if you're a decent person believing that you don't have an afterlife etc makes you more committed to being decent.

If you're a bad person believing in afterlife or not isn't suddenly going to make you better.

It's interesting that even with today's technologies we could all be billionares and live for a hundreds of years but still we choose poverty and live in dark age.

No after life means no life here on earth or anywhere.

No reincarnation means no archetypes, no spirit.

No freedom of choice. Predetermined death.

Faith is essential property of a soul, while religion can be man made for controlling masses.

It's impossible that all this came from nothing and means nothing. GOD is self-evident and so is the afterlife.

Was raised in Southern Baptist traditions. As a tween, I rejected the hypocrisy around me then, which indeed exists in people blabbing outside of their pie holes and yet actions speak so much louder than their words.

Went on to explore most of the major 'religions' of the world. Found at an early age that I lean more towards Eastern philosophies when it comes to how should I go forth and live my life to what truly resonates w/in my soul.

There is so much more to our existence than any of us could ever dream of and I'm still learning at my advanced age.

No, there is 'nothingness.' We are all made up of energy and once our physical bodies expire, our energy must go somewhere b/c even science dictates that energy is only converted from one form to another, to another, etc.

Perhaps the lyrics of Groove Thing by Big Head Todd and the Monsters explains it best. Well, at least to me anyway.

Nobody alive can ever know what happens after death. The only input on the subject is from this side of the fence. Anybody saying they definitely know wants your money.

Already went through those thoughts and ended up changing my life and decided to live as if this was it...nothing exists after this life. Decided if I was wrong great but if I was right then I spent the second half of my life doing whatever I wanted with the goal of getting the most out of what was remaining. The freedom of quitting my stress filled job and exploring the world, keeping fit, starting hobbies I always wanted to do, and helping others with odd jobs has been fantastic!!! We each need to realize you only have one life...what do you want to get out of it, be a slave or accomplish your own goals and be free to do what you want!

So you live the only life we know for a fact hoping there is another one and its better than the one you have? Well, I suppose if you just die and nothing happens, you spent your one life waiting for another that isn't. Would you feel bad, if you could ? I don't think much would change if we lived our life as our only life. All the horrors of this life exists if there is a afterlife. So if there isn't, so what?
