Harvesting Cannabis in the Back Yard | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 76452844 Canada 10/11/2020 03:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | chop your plants Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79468251 hang them upside down to dry for about 2 weeks trim and jar as needed, canning jars that is, lids seal the product open jars once per day for a few minutes to breath three or four weeks will suffice, product is now cured forgot to mention a great way to test if your plants are ready for trim you'll notice that the stems on the fan leaves are supple and pliable when first cut as you move along in time the same leaves now become stiffer and reach a point where you can actually snap them off the stalk when you can cleanly snap a fan leaf off of the stalk, you most likely can begin the trimming and jarring process good to know! my hanging plants are still pliable after one week, so not ready yet. |

Easy enough to choose 3 and make them red/blue/green for displaying. The plants will stand out. HOWEVER, I'm sure this works only in dry places like Northern California. The green of the plants can be automatically detected against the brown of the rest of the scene. But these plants can always be seen with the eyeball just as easily. In the eastern US it won't work because the pot plants look just like most any other green plant. They fly low altitude helicopters around here looking for plants. People with binoculars looking out the doors. Low tech. |

Also your soil has to be nothing but dirt, I've never seen such skinny plants. Get some decent admixes in there, boost your soil! It looks like your second crop, you got a long way to go. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76311076 United States 10/11/2020 07:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Did you check the trichomes with a loupe? I would hazard a guess that you harvested a bit too early. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79476748 It is important to harvest as late as possible because those last weeks are when they put on the most weight. Earlier you harvest, the more heady a high you get vs a later harvest more body high. I concur. Additionally, it appears nitrogen levels have been a bit high through flower... Beautiful plant...clean, no bugs...noice. |

I'm a fan of calcined clay in my soilless mixes personally. Quoting: Asymptote I agree you harvested a little early Good video, though.. Real soil for the Win. Clay(Rock Dusts) and sand are VERY Beneficial to fast growing annuals such as cannabis. Silica is very beneficial to plant health, heat/pest resistance. It increases strength of cell walls. Living microbes are needed to break rock dusts/sand into plant available silica. Charcoal benefits said microbes. Both rock dusts and charcoal, as well as the microbes living in the charcoal all to keep Nitrogen from washing out of the soil. Rock Dusts(Clay) have a negative charge that aids in retaining Nitrogen from washing out during excessive rainfall. MAGA |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71594995 United States 10/11/2020 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | some say you should always try and hang them on the stem they are attached to. hang anywhere from 6-14 days depending on how moist it was when pulled and how think/dense the buds are. you should be able to feel the outside being dry and almost flaky. make sure you dry out of any direct light. then you trim them off for the jars. you don't dry them further in the sealed jars, you equalize the moisture (cure) throughout the entire structure. the best method for this is to by small humidity/temp probes that you can just drop into the jar. (Veanic 4-Pack Mini Digital Electronic Temperature Humidity Meters Gauge Indoor Thermometer Hygrometer LCD Display Fahrenheit (℉) for Humidors, Greenhouse, Garden, Cellar, Fridge, Closet ) once they are in the jar, most people like to shoot for a humidity level of 62-63% for the ultimate cure. anything over 70% humidity, take out of the jars and lay out to dry for 60 minute intervals. 65-70% for 15 minute intervals ... 60-65% is the ultimate cure zone ... <60% only air out for a few minutes once per day for the first 2 weeks. after 2 weeks - just once every few days. some claim the ultimate potency and taste come after a 6 month cure. |

You may get mold that way. It’s better to have it too dry I find. Mold will ruin your stuff. The buds dont dry much in the jar... they cure. After the 2 day dark thing, take off the buds and trim them, but leave a good piece of stem attached. Put them in a hanging screen, room low humidity and under 19 degree celsius... Let them rest for a week or two and turn them every other day. When it appears dry on the outside, snap the stem close to the bud. When it snaps like a dry stem in one easy motion... Trim off the stems and put them into jars. Only fill em half - two thirds. Shake em up gently everyday so the stuff on the bottom goes to the top and open the jar for ten minutes. This stage will take a couple of weeks... Its not meant to really dry it, in fact you need a bit of moisture for the process. After 4-8 weeks the stuff will start to smell aromatic instead of dried mowed lawn. It will also become more potent, since this process also converts some inactice forms of THC to active ones. Proceed to your liking up to 3 months... Store the jars in a dry, 15-17 °C space, no light. Have fun... |
