Food with Attitude!

We started cooking yesterday and resumed at 6 am this morning. They finally let me help with some of the cooking.

The menu so far is:

Green Bean casserole
Broccoli casserole
Mashed Potatoes
Giblet Gravy
Mac and cheese
Turkey
Ham
Pumpkin pie
Pecan Pie
Cool whip
Yeast rolls and butter
Dirty Rice
Pickle and Veggie tray
Cheese Tray
Deviled Eggs

and whatever shows up via Guests.

Looking thru tread for brussel sprout references, this salad is making me hungry!!

So many great meals and two day cooking!

A little simpler here, I've bacon in the oven, and fruit and whipped cream for pancakes I'm about to cook.

People are starting to show up with more food.

Dear DB <3 kindly sent me a package to put together a thanksgiving meal. I enjoyed my turkey dinner &
obligatory nap afterwards earlier today but I was so hungry that I ate it & forgot to take some pictures to post here.

Thanksgiving breakfast: thick cut hickory smoked bacon, ho-made pancakes with fruit, butter, and whipped cream.

We play this every year!

MY grandparents are long gone. But add a few hours to 'prep' for over 20 people, just in grating, and this was a Holiday mainstay. [link to www.allrecipes.com (secure)]

I have made something similar. It was called hash brown casserole.

We had a great time, small group, close friends.
I cooked honey glaze ham.
Twice baked potatoes.
Mashed potatoes
Ham gravy.
Corn delight,
Asparagus.
Homemade stuffing.
2 pumpkin pies.
2 apple pies.
1 rhubarb pie.
2 granny cakes.

O and beer.

Becky would have been, very happy.

We ate at 3 pm and it was incredible.
A delicious turkey, my dad's dressing, homemade cranberry sauce, green beans, scalloped corn, honeynut squash, mashed potatoes and gravy, and all kinds of bread (challah, rosemary and salt, cranberry orange, and butter rolls) Frausty would have loved that part!

For dessert there was traditional pumpkin, apple, and pecan pie.

We talked a lot about how very fortunate we are to have access to so many wonderful foods.
