none of you can argue that a solar panel can give me more energy than a steam turbine attached to a bunch of alternators powered by a magnifying glass basically.

so dont let the science tards fool you. this is the best backup generator solution because you can also blacksmith with it...i make folded hardened steel from the iron sand my magnets pick up.

Let's see a working boiler. I understand you can melt about anything but seeing it work as a home unit....show me.

i will build it; its my choice backup off the grid solution...the carbon taxers may have been able to ban it if the steam was being generated from fossil fuels, but this is completely clean...see them step on the little guy again.

I have wondered the same thing, using those big fresnel lenses that were used in the old big screen tv’s , with a tracking system to keep it pointed on the steam engine, to generate electricity to be stored in a battery bank

it already angles...just needs to be on a rotating surface to aim it and a curtain over the glass to turn it off

And how many, say, pints of water can be turned to steam, with a lens, in an hour?

my electric countertop distiller can do 6 gallons a day plugged in, so maybe 3 in the day cycle as a rough estimate; 3 gallons; maybe more, the heat is more than an electrically plugged in unit as this thing can melt rock.

if this works on the sunny days in winter; i can keep a greenhouse humidified with warm air as well as kick in the power supply at night.

Re: The real solution to solar energy isn't solar panels; its a fresnel lens attached to a steam engine/boiler.
I thought about this but there are some issues...

1) Somehow the lens has to move with the sun. That requires some form of energy even if it's you moving it.

2) Steam engines can be quite dangerous. They operate under pressure and can kill you in a blowout.

3) If you aren't careful you can easily start a fire with the lens. In the deep woods where I'm at this can be a serious problem.

Personally find Sterling Engines with Geothermal to be far more fascinating, safe, and easier to walk away from.

Re: The real solution to solar energy isn't solar panels; its a fresnel lens attached to a steam engine/boiler.
it’s true

reasonable solar converts about half of the “energy” back into sunlight

that energy is only 1/100th the spectral bandwidth, so really we only capture about .5% of the energy of light coming off the sun

fresnel lens focus all wavelengths of light into a fine point, which will mostly all get absorbed as pure heat by most materials

converting all the light to heat is a very efficient way to produce energy

nanny state solution is wrong because we dont want carbon taxers to remove our indirect nuclear reactor (its nuclear reaction is indirectly the sun). Electrically control a servo guiding the angle of the lense, and a motor controlling the rotating disk and we have a simple sun dial. you ever heard of pressure release valves? they work like fuses and release at a certain pressure.

the distiller aspect gives you more efficient conversion of heat into diffused particles for greenhouses...in other words, you can bypass electrically heating stuff when needed in the winter sunny days.

a reservoir of boiling water just as with a nuclear reactor, can trap heat for winter nights and keep the greenhouse warm

so instead of calling it a nuclear fuel pool, we can call it a magma cooling pool that we place under a greenhouse; or have some ponds in the greenhouse.

for those of you who still think solar generates more energy maybe you can put your hand in the magma to measure how hot it is for us and maybe tell us if it ran run a nuclear fuel pool

They will tax the water you use. They will say you are warming the planet with the boiler. They will not let us be independent.
