Best pet antibiotics for humans?
OK all you survivalists, what is the best all-around pet antibiotic for humans. And, how do you figure dosage? By weight, as indicated for the pet?

I am looking to get some just in case...I understand that humans can actually use pet antibiotics safely.

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
goldenseal powder. I can even give it to cats and they can't take a whole lot of things! I just put a little powder on the end of my finger and rub it on their gums. Not too much is needed at all. It just needs to be done every couple of hours till they are well. Not necessarily through the night unless it's horrible. Probiotics after that doesn't hurt for a couple of days.

Also, colloidal silver.

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
Gotta be careful with the pet antibiotics and other meds as the ones that the vets carry are normally from Mexico, expired meds, etc. Most docs will give you some antibiotic scripts if you are not sick if you are going overseas or to Mexico. My spouse goes to Asia frequently for work and his doc gives him zpaks (the best, fast acting antibiotic), cipro, etc. Just tell your doc you are going on a trip to the Philippines or something! Cipro is probably the best general antibiotic to have on hand as it is cheap and you can even get it on the internet.

The correct answer is silver

Oregano Oil and other answers here are incorrect to your question as to the single best

Remember, Silver Ions kill anything thats a one celled organism whereas Oregano and others are organic compounds that are very limited and specific in their actions

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
Back in the 90s, I had a lung infection and couldn't afford to see a doctor...out of work. Having some left-over Ampicillin from a fish I had, I took some. It worked and I got well. When it happened again, I went to the pet store and bought some more. I didn't need a doctor to tell me I needed an antibiotic.

Haven't had to do it since, but did buy some Amoxicillin for fish from an online pet store just in case of that "pandemic" and put the unopened bottle in the freezer. It just might save my life or that of someone else.

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
Well I recently used Fish Mox (Amoxcillin) in capsule form for a Urinary Tract Infection with kidney stones they always follow suit and a penis infection. A good 12 day course of treatment with this cleared it up fast and well for under $20. Seeing a doctor and tests would have been likely over $200 even though the meds are on the $4 Drug Lists at the big box stores and the like. Its a good drug affecting a fairly broad range of infections.

And as far as I can tell I had zero negative effects so was good.

For weight this drug is 500mg for an average weight adult twice to three times a day ... per 160 lbs so is 1 Gram a day per I would say 200 lbs. Since water mass is needed being a Penacillin class of drug. For serious infections you can double that and you can for short terms take up double that.

I would say for most cases take 1 Gram a day per 200 lbs. and you can't go wrong so for 500mg Fish Mox that would be two pills a day.

A bottle should cost $25 for 100 Pills. And yes its human grade medication the same pills humans take to use it for fish you open the capsule and pour it into a certain amount of water. I just swallowed them as a pill.

Most of the advice opposing this is M.D. bsflag

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
The animal antibiotics are high quality. Many people have valuable race horses, show dogs and cats and if their antibiotics were not quality the vets would get sued.

Doxycycline, tetracycline, oxytetracycline are available over the counter for live stock in farm supply stores.

Doxycycline is very good because it successfully fights the biowar/new/emerging/chronic diseases.

Like MRSA, Lyme, CFS, Gulf War Illness, MS, arthritis, diabetes, chrones, .

Re: Best pet antibiotics for humans?
Amoxicillin is the best 'general' broad spectrum antibiotic on the market. It usually comes in a bright red capsule, a chewable tablet or in liquid form (usually a pink cherry flavored mixture used for children, cats and other small critters).

[link to health.yahoo.com] gives a lot of details.

Pet meds and human meds are often exactly the same thing, just sold to vets in smaller dosages (more often) for dogs (from the size of children (under 12) on down and cats.

Dosage:

Here is the rub, Amoxicillin is used to treat many forms of bacterial infection, however depending on the infection the dosage and the course (how long) varies dosages as low as 10 mg/kg to as high as 40 mg/kg depending on what you are treating.

To give a basic idea where to go dose wise.

10 to 30 MG/kg per day is a good rule of thumb. If there is no doctor to diagnose and treat, then stick with the 30 mg/kg per day ( split into two doses morning and evening) to treat most common infections that a person would get without a doctor being readily available.

Paul Karason was making his own high concentration Ionic Silver solution, reportedly with tap water and salt. Quite possibly creating a photo sensitive mix of silver nitrates and possibly salt halides.

He used it internally and externally for some 14 years to treat dermatitis. It is also reported he would douse with his solution and then hit a tanning bed. Bad combination. UV =UV sensitive compounds.

He was at least creating some Silver Chloride.

Upon illumination or heating, silver chloride converts to silver (and chlorine), which is signalled by greyish or purplish coloration to some samples. AgCl occurs naturally as a mineral chlorargyrite.

Bullshit, I have taken them in the past and they worked VERY well.

I also had a friend of mine look up the fish meds in a PDR, its the EXACT same pill. Not made crudely not made cheaper than regular meds.. same pill, same stamp and same factory.

You must work for a pharma company. big pharma is always trying to spread this lie.

I'm using amoxicillan and have been for about two years because of a tooth infection that keeps coming back. I have an impacted wisdom tooth that would cost a lot to get pulled but I don't feel like spending the outrageous amount of money to get it pulled.
So if the pain gets bad for a week or so I pop some asprin and every month or two I take amoxicillin for a week or so.
