A treat,...with milk and sugar and a big piece of Puerto Rican bread with salty sweet butter and dunk......delicious! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35890812 Yummy! I had lots of Puerto rican friends in Florida...They made good coffee! I've heard Kona coffee is the best, but most of the Kona on the market really isnt' Kona. There are many good Arabicas. I avoid Robusta because I don't like bitter coffee. Like any vegetable matter it is sensitive to storage and other things. It is graded and the cheaper less flavorful beans are French or Italian roasted. To me all burnt beans taste alike. It is important the brewing water not be so hot it releases bitter oils. That happens just shy of 200F so boiling (percolator) is too hot. You can readily identify it by the oil sheen on the top of the coffee. I find it upsets my stomach if I drink too much percolator coffee. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |

PatrikC325 User ID: 46044698 United States 11/17/2013 10:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | French press and Percs are so bad for you!! There is a compound in coffee called cafestol (a type of terpene), and cafestol stimulates the production of LDL (the bad cholesterol) in your body. Fortunately, cafestol exists only in the oily part of the coffee bean, and is thus filtered out… when you use a paper filter. The cafestol (and the oil) get left in the paper and you get left with a clean & steaming hot mug of joe (when you use a paper filter). Now – when you prepare coffee without a paper filter, such as Making coffee with a French press (there is a filter but it is a metal mesh and does not collect the cafestol / oily part), By boiling the ground beans (Scandinavian tradition or Turkish coffee), or By making espresso (less cafestol than French press, but more than regular filtered coffee) [link to www.thesaladgirl.com] |

I've been doing that for years. Also love the Corningware peculator for making more than one cup at a time. Last Edited by TerrapinSlic on 11/17/2013 10:50 PM If we don't who else will? |

Get a soup bowl with a handle(I call it a cup), and put two teaspoons of Walmart instant coffee. 3. Add 2 teaspoons of Walmart cocoa mix. 4. Fill 4/5ths of the cup with boiling water. 5. Add a slobbering of Walmart imitation creamora so it floats on the top. 7. Stir until all crap is dissolved. 6. Fill to the top with cold water so it's cool enough to drink. 8. Relax, get on GLP, and slurp it down. After a while it's tolerable, and it fulfills the need to hydrate and caffeinate. 9. Belch as necessary, lest some gas should percolate down to the anal area. Don't tell anyone! This is a top secret classified recipe. Use filtered, non-fluoridated water for best results and a healthy lifestyle. |

I'mpossible User ID: 7497543 United States 11/18/2013 01:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | All of the above...plus an ibrik and an espresso pot. We also have a Keurig for the decaf drinkers who visit. Once we get settled in, I'll scout out & buy from a small coffee roaster again. It was nice having freshly roasted beans every few days. In the Summer months, I make cold pressed coffee in the French press. It takes two presses to keep an ample supply going. I count coffee by the pot not the cup HaHa. Come to think of it, I do have instant coffee, too. Actually have friends who prefer instant over fresh brewed. I'm accommodating =}. Apocalypse: All shall be revealed.
