The Syrian crisis assumed a big power dimension this week with the build-up of rival United States and Russia naval air carrier armadas in Syrian waters, debkafile's military sources report.

The USS George H.W. Bush arrived Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the wake of the three Russian warships anchored earlier opposite Tartus which established a command post in the Syrian port. They will be augmented by Russia's only air carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov, which is due in mid-week.

By deploying 70 ship-borne fighter-bombers plus three heavy guided missile cruisers and five guided missile destroyers opposite Syria, Washington has laid down military support for any intervention the Arab League in conjunction with Turkey may decide on.

Hizbullah, Regional Forces Preparing for Escalation over Syria


Hizbullah, Israel, Iran, and Turkey are all gearing up for an escalation in the developments in the region over the crisis in Syria, a diplomat told the Kuwaiti al-Seyassah daily in remarks published on Sunday.

He said Hizbullah is preparing for the confrontation by removing its rockets from its hideouts, noting that last week’s Siddiqin explosion took place when the party hastily set up the rockets.

In addition, he said that the Turkish army has prepared three brigades to take part in the logistical implementation of possible Arab League sanctions on Syria.

He stated that France’s suggestion to set up humanitarian corridors in Syria mat be a precursor to Turkish intervention that may pave way to NATO’s interference.

Israel has also deployed regiments along its border with Lebanon and the Golan Heights, revealed the diplomat.

He spoke of European intelligence reports in Damascus and Beirut on Wednesday that said 150 Iranian experts, who are part of the Revolutionary Guard, had arrived at a Syrian military airport south of the capital as a precursor to sending them to Hizbullah in Lebanon.

The diplomat interpreted the development as a sign that Tehran and Hizbullah are awaiting “dramatic” developments by Turkey and Israel against Syria, Hizbullah, and the Lebanese army and state in order to take the necessary retaliation.

Syria is gaining some muscle with the Mahdi folks and Iranian missile experts flooding in. They are feeling brave. They are trying to force Turkey to back-off by saying scuds are aimed at Turkey, but most missiles are against Israel.

Yes, Hezbollah are displaying missiles out in the open where not camo'd or hidden in buildings and houses. Israel has three brigades on the border. They may call up reserves very soon, but the IDF is trying to keep the border calm for the moment. They see an opportunity for the international community to come in and assist against Hezbollah along with Syria.

Israel is not hitting Iran this week as the window is not open, but Iran may force things.

Syria is the name of the game this week and the Hezbollah are their savior. I expect fireworks in the next 96 hours.

Russia may not let Israel out of this fight either and the U.S. if involved will first hand fight Russian military.

Quiet before the storm, enjoying things a bit this am. The PM of Turke is preoccupied in the hospital so no worries of Turkey pusing Syria today. Israel is holding steady, but has at least three brigades on the Lebanese and Golan borders. Hezbollah is holding steady. Syria is still trying to get its allies shipped onto its borders. Iran is still sitting there with a big bull's eye on its back, but no one dares attack her this week.

THe War Index should hold steady at 10.80 this am.

Did I miss something? Is this a base-11 scale war index? If we're over 10, shouldn't we already be at war? Or, is that the point?

Yes, base 11 index where 11 is all-out regional war.
Right now, the fog of war is simply in the staging grounds and covert, but if you add up all of the events, there soon could be a blow-out conflagaration where it reaches 11. I had debated moving the index down below 10 this am, but with Syria on alert, Hezbollah on alert, Israel on alert, and now possible explosion or explosions in Iran again, the scale was moved upwards.

Keep the war index at a high level. Syria is really pissed of by the sanctions that the Arab Liga has put in place. That may trigger some unexpected response from the Assad gang.

MM there are reports of unusual Israeli missile movement in the last few days. Some say they are being moved in and around Jerusalem? Do you know anything and what does this tell you?

Can I confirm missile movements in Israel? - Yes. They type of missile - NO.

I do know Patriot batteries have been moved into new locations. There are things that cannot be discussed in Israel due to sensors and so I cannot confirm as of yet as I do not want to burn my sources or endanger lives.
