A 2008 study by Metatech found that the time required to obtain a replacement for any one of the 370 or so largest transformers in the United States was 3 years. In a solar superstorm that affects vulnerable areas of the entire world, delivery times could easily be much longer. Does anyone remember all the transformers exploding and burning a few moths ago? Makes sense if you read this doesn't it?

Listen up.

If we seen an EMP from the sun, there is not a clamping device on Earth that can clamp that fast. In addition, the grid has substations all over the USA. They can be manually controlled and remote controlled. All the computers connected to the remote substations and all the solid state switching gear will get fried. Only small villages and towns will have power, mostly villages or cities where hydro dams are located, but what good is it if most your IC electronics are fried.

Keep this in mind and do not forget this.

-Nuclear reactors use pumps to send water through the reactors.
-NRC law says this power must come from the grid
-When the grid fails, the pumps get their power from backup generators.
-Most generators are lowest bidder generators, and are garbage.
-In 2003 when the east coast when down, around 14 reactors had issues with their backup generators. The grid came up in the nick of time.
- VERY IMPORTANT! even if the generators hold, there is only 7 days of diesel fuel on site. 7 DAYS!. Imagine trying to get fuel into a nuke plant WITH NO GRID? NO FUEL STATIONS? No cell phones? (cell phones go down when the grid goes).

It will take great men doing great things to make this happen. At all costs we must do the following.

1) Get the grid back up as fast as possible.
2) Get fuel assembly lines to the backup generators
3) Use teamwork like never before. Take leadership if need be. EDUCATE one another on the conditions.
4) Ignore "authorities" and people take and keep control of their own cities (look at what "authorities" are doing to the Japanese...
5) Use geiger counters at all times.
6) Have and take Potassium iodide.

The women will need to bring food to the men, the youth will need to take care of the home, and the men will need to be Johnny on the spot. TEAM WORK. ADAPT and OVERCOME.

Digital watches & clocks, etc... possibly (only if 'the big one' hits us, however).

Not likely flashlights -- they may burn out a bulb, but theoretically since they are strictly mechanical devices... replace the bulb and you hsould be good to go.

So they say it would take between 3 to 10 years to "get the grid back up," and replace all those transformers, etc.

Now that's going to be mighty difficult to do with NO POWER, isn't it?

No power means no fuel is transported, no one has any gas, cars don't run, people starve because food isn't delivered, no one can even GET to the transformers, they can't MAKE transformers, they can't DELIVER transformers to the US except by horse 'n buggy.

Yet -- during this period of no power, and consequently no food or services -- we're expected to believe they could actually fix all of this?
