And of course my dumbass (i had just woken up)hit the clear button with the intent to pull the message up again in text messages, but it's not there. So I'm sure someone will call BS cuz I have no pics, but I really did get this alert. I wonder if maybe it's somehow spam?? (I do have Lookout but maybe something got by it) If it's an actual test then I'm sure others had to have received the same alert, right?? |

Didn't think much of it until I looked it up on the computer and found out it was some kind of Emergency Broadcast system for Mobile phones. My carrier is Verizon. Quoting: ChickSlap Aha, so it looks likely that it was some Verizon thing? Maybe CMAS and RMT are the same things, but appear different depending on phone? (I have a Motorola DroidX) Did it say the same kind of stuff as mine; warning level, times, etc.? |

After reading about CMAS, it seems to be an Emergency Broadcast notification that targets all mobile devices in the area where an emergency is occurring or has occurred. At first I thought the same thing you did: It's a Verizon thing. However,I found that not everyone on Verizon received it. I have an Iphone btw "Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting; The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star, Hath had elsewhere its setting. And cometh from afar." —William Wordsworth |

droixxxxx User ID: 4430662 United States 11/01/2011 01:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yeah I got that too 3 times today, I thought it was spam at first.... but it seems to be legitimate. Mine said that it was a test, but it was a severe life threatening alert... it then asked me if I want to receive future alerts, Idk if i do or not. Did any one get this option? What did you go with? |

Then if something happens, they can say "Hey, we did warn you. Check your phone!" |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2391434 It's just a test right? The fact that the level of Severity was Severe was very frightening. I've been getting these things for like a week now, 3 today with Verizon in the dirty jersey. Wtf why are we gettingthem? At the very least if it is a test the geniuses at Verizon should remove the severe r Threat to life n property....scary times made unnecessarily more scary by vzw |
