can one download own pdf and other format books on NOOK? Or do you have to buy?

The nook is the one that has an (SD?) card - I think that's the big advantage people were talking about, that it has a built in card reader.

Also I think (both?) have a lending-library arrangement with some classic titles for free.

Think of all the apps they'll have for these in a few weeks or months.

Would be perfect for traveling.

Don't mind me, I'm seldom enticed by any kind of new technology - my computers are ten years old and I've never owned a cell phone. I listen to vinyl LPs . .

I want one of these little tablets, dammit!

Kind of a silly thread I know, I don't normally keep up with the gadget world, I have never even owned a cell phone and my computers are 10 years old.

Maybe that's why I'm kind of interested in these tablets - I need a technology upgrade. Whether I'll get it or not I don't know. Would be nice for a long train trip I have coming up.

I wanted a kindle fire for Christmas. After researching for weeks my nerdy husband bought me a HP touchpad for $225 instead. I received my present early and love it! I have an amazon kindle app although it appears to still be in beta form. Have a wonderful day!

On the Nook Color, you can download PDF's no problem. I downloaded recently some free e-books from the archives. Going to have to take a look see at the new tablet. I wonder, will they take my Nook Color in as trade / reduced cost for the tablet? If so...that card is burning a HOLE in my asbestos lined wallet...
