[...]Researchers will keep analyzing the images to better understand the comet's daring solar approach. And now skywatchers apparently have another shot to catch a glimpse of the resilient Lovejoy on Friday morning (Dec. 16).

For observers in North America, the comet will rise approximately 5 to 10 minutes before dawn and will be situated to the upper right of the sun. If Lovejoy is still shining at least as brightly as Venus, it may be visible, experts say.

You could also try to spot Lovejoy after the sun comes up, if you're exceedingly careful. Block the rising sun behind a distant building and focus on the part of the sky 3 to 4 degrees above and to the right of the sun (your clenched fist held at arm's length is equal to roughly 10 degrees). CAUTION: Never point binoculars or a telescope at or near the sun, and never look directly at our star with the naked eye. Serious eye damage can result.

btw..I'm assuming there is still a possibility of Lovejoy becoming a great comet similar to Ikeya-Seki in 1965

here's the Wiki entry for great comets

Who cares about this stupid comet, theres only one comet important for us on earth: ELEnin!!

And its still in the game, causing earthquakes according to scientist who discovered that astro alignments cause 6+ quakes.

his name is Dr. Omerbashich and American goverment stole his patents and threatened his life! We come from the same country :)

Re: Comet Lovejoy survives perihelion!
1200UT[...]Somehow it survived being immersed in the several million-degree solar corona for almost an hour and has now re-emerged back into the views of the LASCO and SECCHI coronagraphs, almost as bright as before! The only noteable exception is that it appears to have lost its tail, as you can see in the image opposite. In fact its tail is still gently floating out in space where it was before perihelion! I think that what we're seeing here is the dust particles following the same path as the comet, but just at a slightly slower speed. So, for example, dust ejected from the comet when it was 10hrs away from perihelion will still follow the same path as the comet, but just reach perihelion much later as it should still have some forward momentum. That "pre-perihelion" tail will gradually dissipate today, but I'm pretty confident that we will see Comet Lovejoy grow a new one. I'm going to work on getting some movies on here now. Stay tuned for another update in an hour or so.

How could something survive perihelion?

Dust and gas. Its previous disappearance was at least in part due to perspective with the tail pointing away from us.
