They also detected other chemicals including glycols, which are used in antifreeze, surfactants, and 2-methoxyethanol, a solvent, in the drinking water wells. Quoting: Double O Zero It isn't healthy, isn't safe, and while we may need the energy, people will and have become sick from side effects. It is only one item that show how corporations fuck over the environment. That this goes through is because republicans support it. If it was up to Obama and the democrats, drilling would be far less and other plans to create jobs would be voted in. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9495323 Canada 01/25/2012 10:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A pipeline is bad because it "might", if something goes wrong, contaminate the groundwater and harm wildlife preserves and so, no pipeline. I saw that movie about fracking across the US and they showed zones with no plant-life, how you could set your tap-water on fire from the gas leaking up, stuff like that. I mean, they actually showed the harmful effects which were occurring, not what "might" happen, with fracking. And now there's talk, nothing "official" of course, that earthquakes may be happening because of this. Incredible! You can't make this stuff up. But it's ignored. If you can't see it, it doesn't exist. Out of sight, out of mind. With leadership such as this, assume the position. Stick your head in the sand and kiss your ass good-bye. PolarBear418 User ID: 1167185 United States 01/25/2012 10:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in Northern PA where fracking has run rampid and have nothing but BAD things to say about the whole process. The water smells funny and is horribly discolored some days. Showering causes dry skin and leaves you with a smell that can only be compared to how you smell when exiting a highly chlorinated pool. This does not take into account the "other" damage done to the area. The surrounding roads and towns were not meant for the kind of traffic we see now. There are potholes on many roads that will plain ruin your car and if you are lucky enough to get stuck behind a frak truck you can always count on being extremely late. They travel in caravans of 5-8 vehicles and will crawl along single lane roads 30mph below the speed limit making it near impossible to pass as they will ride on each others ass. Very disappointed (but not surprised) to hear this will continue with no remorse from the government. |
