Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
When I asked the person who posted a long commentary about this topic to provide a simple answer, he "banned" me from commenting on his post. So far he (or she) still hasn't given the answer to the above question.

I've heard many people say Enoch and Elijah or Moses and Elisha. Others say it is metaphorical, perhaps referring to Israel and the Church or something like that.

Anyone here have a simple answer that they can back up with scriptural references? I honestly don't know the answer. That's why I'm asking.

Re: Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
Revelation 11:

1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod, and I was told, "Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count those who worship in it.

2 But the court that is outside the temple leave out, and do not measure it; for it is given to the Gentiles; and they will trample the holy city under foot for forty two months.1

3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand-two-hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.

5 And if any man tries to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies; this is how any man who tries to harm them must be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, so that it does not rain during the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with plagues, as often as they will.

7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, and will overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where our Lord was also crucified.

9 The peoples and kindreds and tongues and nations will see their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.

10 And those who dwell upon the earth will gloat over them, and make merry, and will send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented those who dwelt on the earth.

11 And after three and a half days the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies watched them.

13 And the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand men were slain in the earthquake; and the remainder were frightened and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Re: Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
In short, they are two groups of God's people at the end of time who witness about Jesus Christ, His sacrifice, the love of God for humanity, and who give the final warning message to the world. The smaller group, called the 144,000, will survive all the final events and be translated and taken to heaven without seeing death. The larger group will be those who will sacrifice their physical lives for God and His truth and which will later on be resurrected to eternal life at Jesus' Second Coming.

This is why these two groups of witnesses are symbolically represented as Elijah & Moses in the book of Revelation. Moses was a 'type', or a representative, of those who die in the faith but who are resurrected and taken to heaven, while Elijah is a type of those who will be translated and taken to heaven without experiencing physical death.
The Truth About Thread: The FINAL EVENTS Of Bible Prophecy

"We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist." - Martin Luther (Aug. 18, 1520)

"While God has given ample evidence for faith, He will never remove all excuse for unbelief. All who look for hooks to hang their doubts upon will find them. And those who refuse to accept and obey God's Word until every objection has been removed, and there is no longer an opportunity for doubt, will never come to the light" (The Great Controversy, p. 527).

"Jesus did not come to change the law, but he came to explain it, and that very fact shows that it remains, for there is no need to explain that which is abrogated." - Charles Spurgeon

"Jesuit Adam Weishaupt established the modern version of the Illuminati specifically to be a front organization behind which the Jesuits could hide. After being formally abolished by Pope Clement XIV in 1773, the Jesuits used the Illuminati and other organizations to carry out their operations. Thus, the front organizations would be blamed for the trouble caused by the Jesuits."

Yes, here is your "simple" answer:Elijah and Moses are the two witnesses...

Christ showed 3 disciples this truth on the Mount of Transfiguration......for their understanding, these are the two witnesses is what Christ was showing the 3 disciples

backed up with documented scripture===read it here:

Matthew 17

1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Re: Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
The two witnesses in Revelation 11 are the word of the Lord God.Rev 11:4 it says that these are the two olive trees and two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. God will give power to those two witnesses and they shall prophesy three and half years.
In Zachariah 4:1-14
In verse 2 An angel asked, Zachariah what seest thou? he answered a candlestic all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it,and his seven lamps there on, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which were upon the top thereon. verse 3,says and two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
Zachariah asked the angel, what are these my lord?
In verse 6 the angel answered him that,This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
In verse 11,Zachariah asked What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestic and upon the left side thereof? again Zachariah asked, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
In verse 14,the angel said, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
The candlesticks are the churches. Revelation 1:20
It says,The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlestics. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven candlestics which thou sawest are the seven churches. Two witnesses will come from 2 churches who will humble themselves according to Zachariah 3:7

To me it seems very clear that the two witnesses receive the power to lay prophecy for 1260 days. So far as I'm aware this has not come to pass.

This is a sign of the 2nd coming I am looking for as I believe the "end" is nigh.

 Quoting: rhammond2k

I met a man in Israel in 1998 who was like no one I had met before. He told me how YESHUA told him HE was sending him to Israel. And by this sign he would know that it was God. His wife would conceive twins and one would die in the womb. The other would be born on the 1st day of Hanukah. A year and ½ later his wife conceived and had a miscarriage. When she when to the doctor she was told she was still pregnant. On the 1st night of Hanukah his son was born.
This man told me how God told him to call the priminister of Israel and tell him if he gave away anymore of his brothers land God was going to strike him down. Rabin signed the treaty and land was given to the PA. Within a month of the call Rabin was shot down by someone unknown to this man. God fulfilled the prophecy.
This man came to Israel and like I said there was something different about him. His eyes were full of light and love. I felt as if I knew him all my life.
I went to red sea with him and others in the car. It started to pour coming back the man prayed and the storm stopped. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The muslim young man who was driving us was quiet the entire remaining 2 hours back to Jerusalem. The next morning the young man came to our hotel with his uncle and father asking that the man come to his grandfather. I went and then I watched a man with gangrene feet get healed by the words this man spoke. He told the man to stay off his feet for three days and God would heal it. We went to up north to and when we returned three days later the man and his family were at the hotel and his feet were completely healed.
After that day in the car when the rain stopped it was the longest draught Israel faced in a very long time. For three and a half years the rain didn’t fall. The lake went down to dangerous levels. It was unsafe to swim in it. Wells were running dry thru out the area.
I asked this man who he was. Was he a prophet. He replied I am a servant of God. I asked him again are you Elijah. He replied I am a servant of God. Others asked are you one of the witnesses. He replied I am a servant of the most high God. Never did this man claim anything for himself.
I watched this man speak at the western wall. I heard it in English, others with us heard it in Arabic, a language spoken in a village in Kenya and in Hebrew. It was powerful the entire crowd turned and was silent they parted as he left. He told them that righteousness comes from God alone. That their begging for money was making this place of pray a house of prostitution.

I witnessed this man on many trips he took to Israel. Each time people were healed and came to faith.
He last trip he told us he wouldn’t be back until after the fighting. We were all like what fighting what are you talking about. A few months later the infata started.
If anyone fulfills the description of one of the witnesses it is he.

I look forward to seeing him again and the other person that will return to the land with him.

I take them to be as powerful as Moses and Elias were in their time. If John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elias then the two will be two Gentiles and the ones in the verse below are who they will join when they are resurrected, the Apostles that died in the service of preaching for Jesus.

Re:6:9:
And when he had opened the fifth seal,
I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God,
and for the testimony which they held:
Re:6:10:
And they cried with a loud voice,
saying,
How long,
O Lord,
holy and true,
dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Re:6:11:
And white robes were given unto every one of them;
and it was said unto them,
that they should rest yet for a little season,
until their fellowservants also and their brethren,
that should be killed as they were,
should be fulfilled.

This whole chapter needs to be referenced in relation to them.

Zec:4:12:
And I answered again,
and said unto him,
What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
Zec:4:13:
And he answered me and said,
Knowest thou not what these be?
And I said,
No,

Zec:4:14:

This sounds like a scene from one of the "Left Behind" movies.

Definitely a prophet sent by God to witness to His impending coming.

Soon.

Very soon, very, very soon.

Re: Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
When I asked the person who posted a long commentary about this topic to provide a simple answer, he "banned" me from commenting on his post. So far he (or she) still hasn't given the answer to the above question.

I've heard many people say Enoch and Elijah or Moses and Elisha. Others say it is metaphorical, perhaps referring to Israel and the Church or something like that.

Anyone here have a simple answer that they can back up with scriptural references? I honestly don't know the answer. That's why I'm asking.

Re: Who are the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11?
Moses and Elias made their appearance in the vision on the mountain. Saul was changed into a believer quite easily. The two witnesses could be almost any Gentile and they are the first two to be resurrected from the grave, by the end of that same day many more are brought out of that place. The clues are written in that chapter so Jerusalem will be their home for that 1260 days. I doubt the IDF will be broadcasting their loses.
