Two Witnesses of Revelation 11.3 and the Branch
I have never posted a thread before and am frankly very nervous to do so, however, I feel inspired to post this, therefore I choose to comply happily.

I have seen many people being misdirected as to what the "Branch" is in Scripture, both on GLP and around the internet, thus, I feel the need to articulate the truth, in accordance with Scripture, the best I can.

Many people and scholars argue that the "Branch" is the Messiah, however this is a grave error. Despite what Jesus says in John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman." And, what He says in John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.", many people have been leading others to believe that Jesus Christ was simply a Branch. Please pray about this and check Scripture.

In order to understand the significance of this misinterpretation, it is necessary to consult Isaiah 11:1: "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins."

You see, Jesus Christ is the rod out of the stem of Jesse, whereas the Branch is the servant of God who is foretold in Zech 6:12-13:

"And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both."

Branch is a certain servant of God, namely the man child in Rev 12:5, for he grows out of the roots of the rod (Jesus Christ), which means that he comes after the the true apostolic church has been ruined by the Antichrist (those many false teachers (2 John 7). Only the roots of the church are left, from where he comes, i.e the uncorrupted words of Holy Scripture.

Do you believe the Two witnesses of Rev. 11.3 are called Joshua and Zerubbabel?

That is what the Spirit has given me as truth.

Zechariah says the BRANCH will build the temple....Who was building the physical temple in zechzriah? Two were building the physical temple Joshua the priest and zerubbable tbe governor from judah. They represent the two who will build and unite the spiritual temple in the end as the two witnesses......Read jeremiah 23 and 33....23 speaks of the masculine side of the Branch and jeremiah 33 speaks of the feminine side of the Branch because in jeremiah 23 the branch is stated "HE shall be called the lord our righteosness" and in Jeremiah 33 the branch is introduced as "SHE" shall be called the lord our righteousness. THE TWO WITNESSES ARE THE BRANCH NOT JUST ONE. just as when the two housed of isreal (judah and ephraim) are joined back together the 2 houses become one ane will again be known as Israel my firstborn son

Each witness represents one house of israel.....one judah and the other ephraim....and if reading isaiah chapter 40's you can see the servant being called jacob and the other israel.....jacob came forth from israel just as eve came forth from adam just as Jesus came forth from the Father....the bible pattern is one become 2 and then 2 become one again.

John 15:2-6
King James Version (KJV)
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Romans 11:15-24
King James Version (KJV)
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

Those who seek the two are no different than those who seek the day of the Lord. The fruit doesn't fall too far from the tree in which it grows.

Hi 2012Portal,

First of all, let me start off by saying that I am in no way an "expert". I simply pass what the Spirit of God, through Jesus Christ gives me to pass.

In order to answer your question, we must look to Scripture (as always). Jesus indicated to us that there would be a complete "falling away" from the truth in John 9:4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

When "no one can work" means that there would be a complete falling away from the truth. The only thing incorruptible is Holy Scripture. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Thus, it is foretold in Scripture that no denomination, pastor, or pope on this earth right now preaches the truth about Holy Scripture. Scripture tells us that the Two Witnesses of Rev 11.3 will come with the truth but only a few people will hear their message. Please refer to the longest "Two Witnesses" thread to understand more about this.

In regard to translation, I adhere to the King James version but also scan other versions as well for complete understanding.

Thanks for chiming in. May God Bless you on your journey!

The olive branch symbolizes peace and reconciliation. In the context of Revelations 11 it stands for a last offer of reconciliation to the jews by God...which only some of them will accept, the vast majority will follow the antichrist into eternal damnation.

Re: Two Witnesses of Revelation 11.3 and the Branch
The two witnesses are both condescensions of the Father or God. When the Father comes to earth to work amongst men he is called the Son of God.

God condescended to come amongst the Jews and was mostly rejected by the Jews so the gospel went to the Gentiles. In our day God will condescend again to work amongst men, but this time amongst the Gentiles. The Gentiles are mostly going to reject him just like the Jews did. After the Gentiles rejection he will take his gospel back to the Jews.

The first will be last and the last will be fist.

Now, consider this scripture in Isaiah

Isaiah 9
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

This is referring to the end-time Christ. The Jews were expecting Jesus to establish His government and kingdom during their time, but He was there to perform the atonement. Because He didn’t meet their expectations they rejected Him. In our day Christ is coming to set up His government and His kingdom.

The Two Witnesses of Rev. 11.3 are most certainly people. See Mark 10:35-45:
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying , Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire . 36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit , one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. 38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask : can ye drink of the cup that I drink of ? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with ? 39 And they said unto him, We can . And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of ; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized : 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give ; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared . 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. 42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto , but to minister , and to give his life a ransom for many.

It is prepared for the Two Witnesses of Rev. 11.3.

Thank you RockyMtnLady and I largely agree with what you say and certainly agree that all Truth comes from the The Word. Not a big fan of the King James translations, for it (and many other Mainstream translations) hides the Holy name of God, Jehovah (Yahweh).

Never understood that.

Isaiah 42:8
Darby Translation (DARBY)
8 I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Isaiah 42:8
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 I am the Lord, that is My name;
And My glory I will not give to another,
Nor My praise to carved images.

For the rest, great topic and I mean no disrespect and certainly do not want to derail this threads main topic - about the two witnesses.

Re: Two Witnesses of Revelation 11.3 and the Branch
Branch is a certain servant of God, namely the man child in Rev 12:5, for he grows out of the roots of the rod (Jesus Christ), which means that he comes after the the true apostolic church has been ruined by the Antichrist (those many false teachers (2 John 7). Only the roots of the church are left, from where he comes, i.e the uncorrupted words of Holy Scripture.

Thanks for the post. Very interesting.

What is, or what are the "uncorrupted words of Holy Scripture"?
- which Bible translation
- which denomination

Peace.

8 I am the Lord, that is My name;
And My glory I will not give to another,
Nor My praise to carved images.

For the rest, great topic and I mean no disrespect and certainly do not want to derail this threads main topic - about the two witnesses.

Completely agree with you on the name, Jehovah. I don't know Greek or Hebrew either so sometimes I get lost in translation reading Holy Scripture. I just pray and ask for guidance from our Saviour.

Thank you for joining here. You seem very kind.

Thank you RockyMtnLady, you also seem very kind, caring and respectful.

I cannot remember the exact verse, but I believe there is even a point in the Old Testament where God says that by using his Holy name you can get what you need. In any event, the point being, his personal name appears very important.

Cheers, take care.

BTW, just saw a tweet, quoting John 15:5!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (NIV)

Synchronicity.

It is true! When we walk by Faith, continuously praying for guidance, and keep close to Holy Scripture as truth, God Almighty (Jehovah) begins to show us remarkable things to indicate we are on the correct path.

Exodus 10:2 2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

Praise be to God Almighty!

2 Thessalonians 2:13 13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, his hands shall also finish it; and thou(you) shall know that the Lord of hosts have sent me unto you."
Zechariah 4:9

"In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a sinet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts."

Do you believe the Two witnesses of Rev. 11.3 are called Joshua and Zerubbabel?

That is what the Spirit has given me as truth.

May God Bless you, my friend,

I wanted to expand on my comment as nothing can be related as truth unless it is accordance with Holy Scripture. Pertaining to the Two Witnesses of Rev. 11.3, this is what Scripture tells us:

Revelation 11.3:
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. 7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. 13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

This coincides with Zechariah 3 & 4:

Zechariah 3
3 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by. 6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. 8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Zechariah 4
4 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.
2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.

Additionally, the Two Witnesses of Rev.11.3 are symbolized by the the two cherubim in the inner temple. I will discuss this more in depth on my next post.

As I began to delve into a deep discipline of reading, meditating on, and praying about Holy Scripture, I began to notice the importance of BOTH the Old Testament and the New Testament. I pray you will also see this significance.

May God Bless you,
RockyMtnLady
