WHAT IS HAPPENING AT WHITE ISLAND VOLCANO??? New Zealand/Kermadec & South Pacific QUAKE/VOLCANO WATCH

Just for you...i have concentrated on researching this area since last night...wow...have some fascinating info....will post later this evening because I am out for rest of day and need to organise it a bit better...but WOW....

i have been checking out the new geonet, its cool

i have discovered some things;

we now have 2 sets of seismos, RSAM's and SSAM's for ngauruhoe

(for those who dont know, the ngauruhoe seismo shows any tongariro activity)

the new ngauruhoe seismo (oturere) shows a big volcanic type swarm happened, starting about 10 hours ago

September 5, 2012 – VIRGIN ISLANDS - The VIDN say on August 30, 2012: “The V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency said that V.I. Alert subscribers who have noticed a recent increase in earthquake notifications from the service should not be alarmed. Between 3 a.m. Monday and continuing throughout the day Wednesday, more than 50 very minor to moderate earthquakes were recorded near Latitude 19 degrees north, north of the Virgin Islands, according to a statement VITEMA issued Wednesday. Those tremors included a 5.2-, 4.6- and 4.7-magnitude earthquake between 3 and 5 p.m. Wednesday. Victor Huerfano, director of the Puerto Rico Seismic Network, confirmed that the increase in earthquake activity is a swarm of tremors, a phenomenon that occurs four or five times a year in different parts of the Caribbean region, according to VITEMA. A swarm is defined as three or more earthquakes occurring within an hour, and the Puerto Rico Seismic Network has been recording these instances since Saturday. “It is normal but we cannot say what it means,” Huerfano said. “It is more important that we make sure we are calm and prepared, and that emergency systems are in place in case a major earthquake happens.” The Virgin Islands is located in a seismically active region, which has a potential for a major earthquakes to occur at any time, according to VITEMA’s statement.” –VIDN

I am picking they will say something along the lines of wind readings....but will update later if they post an answer to the query..

Update on Mayor today as well...readings have nearly dropped right off but wind is still the same as many points on the graphs over the last two days so continues to make no sense when compared to environment...

Yep...have managed to some great information on the November swarm.....! Cant wait to show you what i have discovered...

wow, if they say its only wind at tongariro, i will never believe another thing they say, because there are so many red vertical quake lines on that drum its hard to count them..

lols it sure will be interesting to see what they say...

Have just been studying the Ngauruhoe drum and graphs..and have just noticed that the scale is dropped right down on it....which means it will pratically show a pin drop...so it is possible if it is blowing an absolute gale that it will be showing really high readings....? I cant see any activity on the other drums so a bit strange as they all normally show the activity when it is volcanic.....it is certainly showing really strong activity thats for sure!

I dont know why they insist on ignoring the questions on their Facebook site....there are a number of people quite concerned today and it would only take five minutes of their time for goodness sake...

My day has not gone as planned and I as I want to make sure my info is accurate I am not sure if I will get any posted tonight...I will do my best but it is taking a lot longer than I thought....It is really really interesting- I am trying to condense it to the important facts as there is a huge amount of info that I am finding......

It will be worth the wait.....

Another busy night overnight for New Zealand and in particular quakes around the East Cape, White Island , Taupo and Rotorua region...

There were several deep quakes in the Sea off BOP/East Cape and as well as two deep quakes at Lake Taupo. The hotspot in Rotorua had two more shallow quakes...( and there were others earlier in the evening too....)

We have two developing hot spots for Quakes around Rotorua where there have been multiple shallow quakes in the last week.. ( areas circled in white )

This is getting really interesting...as you said T- lots of shallow quakes in the Volcanic areas.....

the zl2tod pages arent working since the geonet change-over yesterday, i hope they are fixed soon, i like looking at the seismos and especially the volcano graphs all together on the same page, to see when the volcanoes are acting in unison

a little while back,the south island was having a lot of very shallow quakes too..

new volcanoes are forming all over the world, i guess it isn't out of the question that they could form in the south island of nz, what do you think, tarn?

i sure have seen a fair few very volcanic looking signals on many of the south island drums in the past year

There is a lot of talk among the experts that the pattern and nature of the quakes in Christchurch is consistent with volcanic activity.

I believe anything is possible in todays world.

Thats Motuhora or Whale Island under all those dots!!!

Moutohora Island or Whale Island is a small uninhabited island located off the Bay of Plenty coast of New Zealand's North Island, about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north of the town of Whakatane. The 1.43 km2 (0.55 sq mi) island is a remnant of a complex volcano which has eroded, leaving two peaks. This is still an area of volcanic activity and there are hot springs on the island in Sulphur Valley, McEwans Bay, and Sulphur Bay.
