No. I spoke about non-attachment to all things, including people. This means as in the case of people, that each one has their own journey & we must not interfere with it. It is our responsibility to love them, but respect that whatever their experiences are, it belongs to them & we cannot take that away from them. I have seen family members clinging to one who is dying. This causes great distress on the whole family & the one dying. We are in this case being selfish & clinging, (attachment) when we need to let them go, with love. Their journey is over. I know this is a difficult concept & is not something that is easily understood in the Western mind. |
