Why did I make this May 19th prediction on April 24th?

On March 14th I predicted a quake for March 20 +- one day and HIT with a 7.6 in Mexico on March 20th due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates: Thread: HIT! March 20 earthquake in Mexico was predicted on March 14

On March 21st I predicted a 7.0+ quake within a day of April 3 due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates but FAILED as we only got a 6.0 quake. Sergman posted the miss on his thread.

On March 25th I predicted a 7.0+ quake within a day of April 12 due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates and HIT with a 8.4 in Sumatra during that window on April 11th:

This time Sergman fought me on my hit confirmation and instead of posting it CHANGED his criteria for tracking earthquake predictions -- and removed my previous confirmation, along with some others.

On April 12th I predicted a quake over 6.5 within a day of April 18 due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates and HIT with a 6.8 falling within the 3 day window on April 17th: Thread: HIT! April 17 earthquake was predicted on April 12

On April 20th I predicted an earthquake to occur within a day of April 22nd with a magnitude of 6.8 or more due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates and got a 6.6 earthquake on April 21st, the largest and only "significant' quake per USGS since April 17th: Thread: 6.8 earthquake on April 22 due asteroids approaching Earth

On April 22nd I predicted an earthquake magnitude 6.8 or more within a day of April 24th due asteroids with a pattern of earthquakes on their close approach dates. This forecast MISSED with only a 6.0 quake.

On April 23rd I saw Sergman restated his new "policy" about tracking earthquake predictions on his thread, saying only 8.0+ quake prediction will count. This drummed up unresolved issues for me. So out of spite I posted this May 19th prediction.

Why magnitude 8.0+? Just to get on Sergman’s list. Normally the criteria would be 6.8 or greater, or a “significant” quake making news due to deaths and destruction. There is a 21% chance to hit a 6.8 or higher during a 3 day window by pure luck. Predicting quakes less than 6.5 occur too often to be meaningful.

Why May 19th? I was anxious to make a new prediction but none of the asteroids I looked at would indicate a related quake history anytime before June. But I did notice May 19 a high number of asteroids making close approaches. So if there was truly an asteroid/earthquake connection then this would be the next candidate.

Why Chile or Japan location? To be honest, I researched where the biggest quakes have occurred in the past.

Why a related tsunami? I figured if it hit big it would be offshore.

Why less than 5,000 deaths? Actually it was to reduce fear. My predictions a pseudo-science done for entertainment on GLP and to publicly share my research and theories. They are not meant to be a warning… if anything just a reminder to be prepared for anything. Last year I privately predicted quakes on my blog and got a 78% hit rate.

Over past few days I completed an analysis the demonstrates that a high number of NEO on a given date does increase the chance of a quake: Thread: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!

So why did I make this May 19th prediction? Was hoping for a hit to thumb my nose at Sergman and was OK if it failed. If it wasn’t for this selfish reason I would have just said I expect a “significant quake” making USGS list, or a quake of 6.8+, within a day. Next quake date I'm watching is June 25, 2012 due high number of NEOs on that date.
