Quoting: observationsee i never knew that until just now we are using indra`s net cos it fits what we know but does what we know fit what buddha knew For the Huayan school, Indra's net symbolizes a universe where infinitely repeated mutual relations exist among all members of the universe. Quoting: observationThis idea is communicated in the image of the interconnectedness of the universe as seen in the net of the Vedic god Indra, whose net hangs over his palace on Mount Meru, the axis mundi of Vedic cosmology and Vedic mythology [link to en.wikipedia.org] The earliest materials from which this metaphor were drawn can be found throughout the oldest of India's works, the Vedic Sahits, Brhmaas, Upaniads, and Stras, so that "Indra's net" has its philosophical roots in early "proto-forms" of Samkhya, one of the six Hindu darshanas. Indeed, some scholars have speculated that Buddhism is itself a branch of these early forms of Skhya. While the Prakriti is a single entity, the Samkhya admits a plurality of the Puruas in this world. Unintelligent, unmanifest, uncaused, ever-active, imperceptible and eternal Prakriti is alone the final source of the world of objects which is implicitly and potentially contained in its bosom. The Puru a is considered as the conscious principle, a passive enjoyer (bhokta) and the Prakriti is the enjoyed (bhogya). Samkhya believes that the Purua cannot be regarded as the source of inanimate world, because an intelligent principle cannot transform itself into the unconscious world. It is a pluralistic spiritualism, atheistic realism and uncompromising dualism. Quoting: observationPurua Purua is the transcendental self or pure consciousness. It is absolute, independent, free, imperceptible, unknowable through other agencies, above any experience by mind or senses and beyond any words or explanations. It remains pure, “nonattributive consciousness”. Purua is neither produced nor does it produce. It is held that unlike Advaita Vedanta and like Purva-Mimamsa, Samkhya believes in plurality of the Puruas. Prakriti Prakriti is the first cause of the manifest material universe — of everything except the Purua. Prakriti is accounts for whatever is physical, both mind and matter-cum-energy or force. Since it is the first principle (tattva) of the universe, it is called the Pradhna, but, as it is the unconscious and unintelligent principle, it is also called the jaDa. It is composed of three essential characteristics (trigunas). These are: Sattva – poise, fineness, lightness, illumination, and joy; Rajas – dynamism, activity, excitation, and pain; Tamas – inertia, coarseness, heavyness, obstruction, and sloth. All physical events are considered to be manifestations of the evolution of Prakriti, or primal nature (from which all physical bodies are derived). Each sentient being or Jiva is a fusion of Purua and Prakriti, whose soul/Purua is limitless and unrestricted by its physical body. Samsra or bondage arises when the Purua does not have the discriminate knowledge and so is misled as to its own identity, confusing itself with the Ego/ahamkra, which is actually an attribute of Prakriti. The spirit is liberated when the discriminate knowledge of the difference between conscious Purua and unconscious Prakriti is realized by the Purua. Thread: Americans Eat 1,083,333 Football Fields Worth Of Wings On Super Bowl Sunday Americans to Eat 1.23 Billion Chicken Wings Super Bowl Weekend Quoting: KoFFee_ Chicken wings have become a staple food of Super Bowl parties in the U.S., and demand for them on menus is now at an all-time high leading up to the second biggest eating day of the year – Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl weekend is unquestionably the biggest time of the year for wings. According to the National Chicken Council’s 2013 Wing Report, more than 1.23 billion wing portions will be consumed during Super Bowl weekend in 2013, as fans watch the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens battle for the Lombardi Trophy. To put that into perspective, if 1.23 billion wing segments were laid end to end, they would stretch from Candlestick Park in San Francisco to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore… 27 times. Super Bowl wing consumption is down about one percent, or 12.3 million wings, compared to last year’s numbers, but not because demand for them is declining. Quite the opposite, explains Bill Roenigk, chief economist and market analyst at the Washington, D.C.-based National Chicken Council. Read more here: [link to www.nationalchickencouncil.org] One gets 4 'hot wings' per one chicken. If these numbers are accurate then Americans will consume 300,000,000 dead chickens on a single day... just a dude User ID: 9618710 United States 02/03/2013 05:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It seems that the visions that went into the books weren’t the only ones Sister Maria had. Between 1620 and 1631, Sister Maria regularly went into what seems to be cataleptic trances, after which she described a strange dream in which she was carried to a strange and wild land, where she taught the gospel to strange and wild people. Between 1621 and 1629 numerous missionaries in east and west Texas and into New Mexico reported encountering Indians who had apparently never before been contacted by Spaniards or Frenchmen, who spoke no Spanish or French, who carried crosses, knew Roman Catholic ritual, maintained recognizable altars in their villages, and knew Catholic liturgy—in their own tongues. When the Spaniards asked how they had learned these things, they described a beautiful young woman in blue who had been coming among them for years, teaching them the new religion in their own languages, who told them to welcome the white skinned Christians who would eventually come to see them.
